  • Patent number: 4490174
Abstract: A ferronickel concentrate is produced by reducing a lateritic ore comprising less than 1.5% w of nickel at a temperature of from 920.degree. to 1120.degree. C. with a CO/CO.sub.2 mixture in the presence of a S-compound, such as Na.sub.2 SO.sub.4 or FeSO.sub.4 or FeS, and subjecting the reduced product to magnetic separation.

Inventors: Williem J. Crama, Albertus H. Baas
  • Patent number: 4436706
Abstract: A process for the preparation of pentavalent vanadium compounds by reprocessing acid extracts of vanadium-containing catalysts spent in the hydrotreatment of crude or residual oils, characterized in that extracts containing trivalent and tetravalent vanadium are oxidized at a pH between 0.5 and 2.6 with an oxygen-containing gas to form concentrates of tetravalent vanadium, after which oxidation is carried out at a pH between 2.6 and 4.0 with an oxygen-containing gas to form concentrates of pentavalent vanadium and in that solid vanadium compounds are subsequently recovered by separating them from the liquid phase.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 6, 1982
Date of Patent: March 13, 1984
Assignee: Shell Internationale Research Maatschappij B. V.
Inventors: Lambertus J. G. Nacken, Albertus H. Baas
