  • Patent number: 5492997
Abstract: A copolymer of a lactone and a polycyclic carbonate is prepared by heating a monomer of a lactone with a polycyclic carbonate having two cyclic structures including a carbonate group at elevated temperatures less than 200 degrees Centigrade in the presence of a catalyst. The described copolymers evidence excellent mechanical properties, good resorption velocity and do not disintegrate upon degradation into materials of high crystallinity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 17, 1994
Date of Patent: February 20, 1996
    Assignee: Rijksuniversiteit te Groningen
Inventors: Dirk W. Grijpma, Erik Kroeze, Atze J. Nijenhuis, Albertus J. Pennings
  • Patent number: 4200579
Abstract: Novel, rubbery copolymers of ethylene with at least one other .alpha.-alkene such as propylene, and a polyene such as 5-ethylidene norbornene-2, characterized by a differential scanning calorimetry thermogram maximum peak at a temperature between -7 and +11.degree. C., are disclosed. These specific rubbery copolymers when one or more tackifiers are included therein, exhibit an unprecedentedly high tack and consequently provide for the first time EDPM-type compositions that have sufficient building tack for the manufacture of multi-ply articles such as tires.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 19, 1976
Date of Patent: April 29, 1980
    Assignee: Stamicarbon, B.V.
Inventors: Albertus J. Pennings, Arnold Vossebeld

  • Patent number: 4137394
Abstract: Filament-like polymer crystal fibers are prepared from a solution of a crystallizable polymer, such as polyethylene or polypropylene, in a vessel containing a spinning rotor, preferably having a slightly roughened surface, according to the disclosed invention. The fiber thus formed is taken up and removed at a rate equal to the crystal growth rate. The longitudinal crystal growth rate is of sufficient speed for commercial application while at the same time yielding fibers of outstanding mechanical properties.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 17, 1977
Date of Patent: January 30, 1979
    Assignee: Stamicarbon, B.V.
Inventors: Cornelis E. Meihuizen, Albertus J. Pennings, Arie Zwijnenburg
