Abstract: 2,2-Difluoro-5-(2,4-dinitro-6-trifluoromethylphenylamino)-benzodioxoles of the formula ##STR1## in which R is hydrogen, halogen or alkyl optionally substituted by halogen,which possess arthropodicidal, microbicidal and herbicidal properties.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of a trifluoromethylphenol or the corresponding alkoxy compound which comprises contacting a halogenobenzotrifluoride of the formula ##STR1## in which X denotes halogen,R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 denote hydrogen, trifluoromethyl or a substituent which promotes the replacement of X by a hydroxyl group andY denotes hydrogen, a halogen or alkoxy, at least one of the substituents R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 representing a trifluoromethyl group and at least one of them representing a substituent which promotes the replacement of the radical X by a hydroxyl group,with an excess aqueous alkali metal hydroxide in an alcoholic solution in the presence of a quaternary onium salt.

Abstract: 2,2-Dimethyl-3-vinyl-cyclopropane carboxylic acid esters of halogenated benzyl alcohols of the formula ##STR1## in which each R independently represents F, Cl, Br or CH.sub.3and m and n each represent 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 subject to the sum of m+n being not more than 5,with the provisos that(i) when each R represents F or Br then m and n cannot both be 0,(ii) when each R represents Cl, then m represents 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 and n represents 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, and(iii) when each R represents CH.sub.3, then m represents 0 and n represents 5,which possess arthropodicidal properties.

Abstract: In a process for the preparation of a diphenyl ether substituted in the 4,4'-position and/or the 2,2'-position relative to the ether oxygen atom by reaction of a reactive benzene compound substituted in the 1-position and the 2- or 4-position with a salt of nitrous acid, the improvement in that the reaction is carried out in the presence of a quaternary onium salt in water.

Abstract: A process for preparing an m-bromo-benzotrifluoride by brominating an unsubstituted, halo or alkyl substituted benzotrichloride in the presence of a catalyst and thereafter fluorinating the brominated product at elevated temperature and pressure. Also disclosed are new m-bromo-benzotrifluorides including 4-fluoro-3-bromo-benzotrifluoride and 4-methyl-3-bromobenzotrifluoride.

Abstract: Sulfonic acid fluorides are prepared by reacting sulfonic acid halides with inorganic fluorides in an organic-aqueous phase. The reaction is carried out in the presence of catalytic amounts of an amine or an onium salt.
