    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing fluorine-containing phenethylamines which is characterized in that, in a first step, a substituted bromobenzene is reacted with an N-vinylimide in the presence of a palladium catalyst, in a second step, the resulting substituted &bgr;-iminovinylbenzene is hydrogenated catalytically and in a third step, the substituted &bgr;-iminovinylbenzene obtained in the second step is cleaved. This process also provides access to novel &bgr;-iminovinyl- and &bgr;-iminoethylbenzenes.

    Abstract: Acetophenones which are substituted on the aromatic ring by fluoroalkyl are prepared in a particularly advantageous, environmentally friendly and effective manner from fluoroalkylanilines and acetaldoxime by preparing from a fluoroalkylaniline a corresponding diazonium salt solution, and reacting this with acetaldoxime in the presence of at least one copper compound, without adding any buffer salts or reducing agents, carrying out the reaction at from 20 to 50° C. and in the presence of halide ions and subsequently heating to a temperature in the range from 70 to 110° C.

    Abstract: Fluorinated benzaldehydes are obtainable in a simple and inexpensive manner and in significantly improved yields when chlorinated benzaldehydes are reacted with alkali metal fluorides at temperatures in the range from about 130 to 200.degree. C. in the presence of less than about 2 mol % of quaternary phosphonium salts, based on chlorine atoms to be replaced, at initial concentrations of more than 2.5 mol of the chlorinated benzaldehydes per kg of dipolar aprotic solvent. Fluorinated benzaldehydes obtained in this way can advantageously be hydrogenated with hydrogen in the presence of noble metal catalysts to give fluorinated benzyl alcohols.
