  • Patent number: 6381769
Abstract: An accessible bathtub apparatus for persons with disabilities, including an enclosure with an elevated bed with a seat and a foot well, a door panel, a door seal, connectors operable to pivot the door panel from an open position to a closed position, and retainers that hold the door panel in the open position until released by the user. The elevated bed allows direct lateral access by the user. The bathtub can be installed in a newly-constructed or renovated bathroom. Alternatively, it can be installed on an existing conventional bathtub, thereby avoiding the necessity of removing the old tub before installing the new one. It can be used in private homes, hotels/motels, and other locations; it can be used by persons with disabilities that would otherwise preclude them from bathing unattended or unassisted.

  • Patent number: 6151727
Abstract: A bathtub apparatus for persons with disabilities, including a removable front panel and an elevated bed that allows direct lateral access by the user. The bed of the bathtub is elevated above the bathroom floor, approximately at the height of a chair, toilet seat, or standard bathtub front rail. The relative movement of the front panel/wall can be accomplished in a number of different ways, as can sealing between the front panel and the stationary parts of the bathtub. In one embodiment of the invention, the bathtub can be installed above an existing conventional bathtub, thereby avoiding the necessity of removing the old tub before installing the new one. The bathtub can be used in private homes, hotels/motels, and other locations; it can be used by persons with disabilities that would otherwise preclude them from bathing unattended or unassisted.

  • Patent number: 4738598
Abstract: An apparatus for pumping fluid includes a pump block having a wall surface defining an elongate passageway. Annular elements are movable in the passageway and include deformable peripheral skirts on their rearward ends dimensioned to sealingly engage the wall surface of the passageway to isolate fluid sections between successive elements. The passageway includes portions of changing cross-sectional area and ports provide fluid flow communication with the portions of changing cross-sectional area. The peripheral skirts of the elements are configured to undergo deformation, rather than direct compression, when moving through the portions of changing cross-sectional area to effect pumping action through the ports. The manner in which the skirts of the elements deform minimizes friction when the elements move through the portions of changing cross-sectional area. Another embodiment is shown which employs nondeformable annular elements.

  • Patent number: 4637784
Abstract: There is disclosed a metering pump for metering and pumping small volumes of fluid. A continuous member with annular elements carries pumping fluid through a first passageway containing a diaphragm which defines a second passageway. Provision is made for changing the pressure of the pumping fluid being carried through the passageway. This causes the diaphragm to expand into the first passageway drawing fluid to be pumped into one end of the second passageway. The pumped fluid is then carried through the second passageway by movement of the continuous member with annular elements along the first passageway and delivered out of the other end of the second passageway.

  • Patent number: 4157104
Abstract: A gasoline dispensing and vapor recovery nozzle, and adaptors and fittings as may be required to modify certain gasoline tank fill pipes to consistent geometry and dimensions, such fittings including extension to the liquid conveying portion of the dispensing nozzle and extension of the venturi vent tube of the automatic shut-off system of the nozzle, thereby permitting early detection and shut-off of fluid flow upon rising liquid levels in the gasoline tank and fill pipe.

  • Patent number: 3951576
Abstract: The rotation of a helix within a deformable tube which is located within and attached by the ends to a pump casing of circular cross section causes fluid to flow between the tube and pump casing when the tube contains at least one longitudinal rib continuously connected to the pump casing. Changes in the cross sectional area of the pump casing and changes in the configuration of the helix permits additional fluid to be drawn into the fluid stream or a portion of such fluid to be discharged from the space between the deformable tube and the pump casing at the transitions in cross sectional areas of the pump casing or changes in configuration of the helix.
