  • Patent number: 4615066
Abstract: A backscratcher and backscrubber apparatus having a removable and replaceable sponge member is disposed for use with water and the like. This device includes a molded handle member of plastic having a stem portion substantially impervious to water and/or soap used therewith, this handle having an enlarged head portion in which there is provided and formed a through aperture providing a retaining ring-like or rim portion which is integral with a handle portion. The formed aperture is adapted to receive and retain a sponge configurated and sized to be manipulated into a retaining position and condition within the aperture. A first guideway is formed in the rim portion, with this guideway a substantially circular bore whose axis passes substantially through the axis of the aperture and opposite the exit of the guideway is a chamber retaining bore in alignment therewith and providing a second guideway.

  • Patent number: 4475836
Abstract: There is disclosed a device which is both a backscrubber and/or a backscratcher in which a sponge is utilized to provide the contacting member. A handle of conventional design is provided and a stem portion of wire or wire-like material extends therefrom. At a selected distance from this handle a pivot means is provided in this stem portion. Beyond this pivot means the end of the wire member is bent or formed into an arc-like configuration to provide one-half of a tong-like jaw. Another and like wire or wire-like member is pivotally retained and one end portion is compatibly formed to provide the other half of a tong-like jaw. The other end of this member is bent into a hook to provide a lock means for the jaws. A sponge is formed with a reduced midportion which is sized to be gripped and retained by the tong-like jaw ends. A sponge having a pocket for the insertion and retention of a soap bar is shown. Meshing means for retaining the tong-like jaw ends are also shown.

  • Patent number: 4358876
Abstract: A safety clasp for necklaces, bracelets and the like is provided with a leaf spring member having its ends canted outwardly so as to enter and engage receiving apertures formed in an outer member. Retaining rings are provided at each end of the separable clasp with the outer member having an outer tubular sleeve with an open and a closed end and with apertures formed intermediate its length. An inner member is slidable and rotatable within the outer member and carries the leaf spring by a spine member with said spring secured at its midlength at the inner end of the spine. Receiving means for the leaf spring is provided in and along the spine and a bias such as a coil spring is secured at the closed end and internal of the outer member to urge the inner member outwardly. A quarter-turn of this inner member is made to bring the ends of the leaf spring from in way of the apertures formed in the outer member.

  • Patent number: 4326321
Abstract: There is provided a safety sleeve and retainer of thin tubing which is of a size to provide a snug fit with the outer diameter of a pivot pin post as used with a watch band or strap. The sleeve is formed with at least a portion made with a tubular configuration and with about one-half made with a split. This split portion is expanded outwardly to form extending leaf portions. The safety sleeve is of rigid plastic or metal with a thin wall. The safety sleeve is adapted to retain the pivot pin post while the expanded leaf portions are a snugly slidable interference fit within a loop end of a strap or band. The safety sleeve is shown in two modes of construction. A preferred sleeve is made to enclose a previously provided spring pivot pin post. In the other embodiment the safety sleeve is secured to the outer portion of the pivot pin post and is used as an assembly.

  • Patent number: 4190091
Abstract: A screwdriver has an undercut enlarged foot portion and an anti-shift pivot element of one-piece therewith. The screwdriver is longitudinally inserted into a screw such that the foot portion and the pivot element are respectively received with clearance in an undercut slot and a central cavity formed in the screw head. Rotation of the screwdriver about the pivot element causes the foot portion to slide partially underneath and grippingly engage the side walls of the slot. A screwholding attachment is adjustable in fine, continuous manner relative to the screwdriver.
