Abstract: Systems and methods of operation thereof are provided for vehicles. The systems include a first portion configured to be secured in a fixed position relative to a body of a vehicle, wherein the first portion includes a first seat cushion configured to support an occupant seated thereon, and a second portion pivotably coupled relative to the first portion. The system is configured to transition between a primary configuration and a secondary configuration by pivoting the second portion relative to the first portion. The second portion includes a second seat cushion configured to support the occupant thereon while the system is arranged in the primary configuration. The second portion includes a footrest configured to support feet of the occupant while the system is arranged in the secondary configuration and while the occupant is seated on the first seat cushion.

Abstract: A vehicular seat assembly includes a seat bottom having a base portion and a pivoting portion. The base portion has a first cushion disposed at a first shell and the pivoting portion has a second cushion disposed at a second shell and a footrest. The seat bottom is adjustable between a first state and a second state. In the first state, the first shell, the second shell, and the footrest are concealed beneath the first cushion and the second cushion, and the first cushion and the second cushion cooperate to provide a sitting surface. In the second state, the pivoting portion is moved about a pivot axis away from the base portion so that the first cushion provides the sitting surface and the footrest is exposed to provide a footrest surface.

A metallic insert is fixed to the seating portion. The metallic insert is susceptible to a magnetic field applied to the metallic insert acting to co-rotate the metallic insert and the polymeric body to install and to remove the polymeric body from a fixed position. A magnetic coupler is positioned over the metallic insert and magnetically coupled to the metallic insert. The magnetic coupler is rotated to induce a 90-degree rotation of the magnetic coupler and thereby the metallic insert to lock the magnetic pin in the fixed position.
