    Abstract: A printing system comprises a printing carriage and a platen comprising vacuum holes. The platen may receive a sheet of print media. The printing system may also include a cover that rests on top of the platen and covers the vacuum holes in the platen. The cover comprises a plurality of ridges that protrude upward toward the sheet of print media being printed. The ridges define a recessed area to receive ink that passes through the print media.
