  • Patent number: 6837868
Abstract: An indwelling urinary catheter comprises a two-ply (or equivalent) air-inflatable anchoring balloon means in which an outer ply or skin thickness thereof, is not bonded to the inner ply over one or more small areal segments each measured at the intersection of the two plys radially located from the axis of symmetry of a central catheter body. Instead, when inflated, each areal segment expands mostly in a sidewise looking direction over a minimum radial arc relative to a central catheter body, to form one or more elongated lobes that are larger than and hence stabilize the catheter body relative to the entry port of the user's bladder but leaving rigid collar regions located between adjacent segments so as to not interfere with the formation of large drainage ports therethrough.

  • Patent number: 5469975
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, the L-shaped status bar is modified by the addition of a mount to form a status bar subassembly. In the subassembly, the mount is preferably slidably attached to the status bar by an inverted U-shaped clasp, such U-shaped clasp being open along one side to slidably attach about a vertically extending leg of the L-shaped status bar. Positioned above the U-shaped clasp is a upright U-shaped, indicia supporting frame. The frame includes a pair of side walls and an end wall. The frame is open along one side and attaches to the U-shaped clasp at an opposite common end wall. The cavity formed between the side and end walls of the frame is constructed to receive a card that contains written indicia wherein all data related to an addressee's (or addressees') change in status per slot. In that way, efficiency of service is greatly improved.

  • Patent number: 5396706
Abstract: A portable, circular saw is disclosed. It includes a saw blade selectively rotatable about an axis of rotation to a define a working plane normal to such axis of rotation. The saw also includes an arcuate outer guard fixedly mounted about one side of the blade, and an inner guard having a central opening concentric of the axis of rotation. The purpose of the central opening is to permit the inner guard to be rotatably mounted about an opposite side of the blade. Also attached to the inner guard is a bulbous member that includes a leading edge that is adjacent to the cutting path of blade vis-a-vis a wooden member. Such wooden member generates a force on the inner guard as the former makes contact therewith and wherein the inner guard undergoes rotation about the axis of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4656675
Abstract: A safe, effective, sanitary device for draining of urine from a male patient which prevents spillage of the urine while preserving the comfort of the patient. The device is made of an elastomeric material which fits around the penis and leads to an exit tube which in turn leads to a suitable receptacle. The device is a vent critically located at a point close to the discharge from the penis and above the exit tube. The vent is covered with a membrane which permits the passage of air but prevents the passage of urine.
