  • Patent number: 6921989
Abstract: A closed loop feedback system controls electrical switchgear that moves at least one contact relative to another contact to switch power on and off in an AC electrical circuit. The control system includes a position feedback device that is operatively coupled to at least one of the two contacts to produce contact position information. A processor receives and analyzes the contact position information to control contact motion to provide AC waveform synchronized switching. The electrical switchgear may be a capacitor switch that includes a bi-stable over-toggle latching device. The latching device maintains the contacts in one of an open stable position in which electrical current does not flow through the contacts or a closed stable position in which electrical current flows through the contacts.

  • Patent number: 4142615
Abstract: A wheel driven by a planetary reduction gear train has a disc brake pack acting between a fixed member and a rotating member for stopping or slowing the rotation of the wheel. The disc brake pack is mounted between the fixed and rotatable members before the planetary reduction gear set is assembled on the shaft making it possible to service the disc brake pack without removing the wheel from the shaft. In one embodiment, the sun and planet gears act as a pump for circulating cooling fluid to the disc brake pack.

  • Patent number: 3961827
Abstract: A wheel assembly comprises an axle housing secured to the frame of a vehicle, a spindle secured to the axle housing and a wheel rotatably mounted on the spindle. The axle housing and wheel spindle are secured together at radial flanges thereof by a plurality of circumferentially disposed bolts. A concavity is formed on the inner face of each of the flanges to impose compressive forces on radially inner portions thereof when the flanges are drawn and secured together by the bolts.
