  • Patent number: 9926755
Abstract: A perforating gun technique. The technique includes perforating with the gun in a manner that deforms internal support structure thereof. Thus, follow-on treatment with a breakup fluid tailored to the material of the support structure may be utilized to dissolve the structure. The carrier of the gun which houses the structure may then be utilized as a conduit for fluid flow.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 2, 2014
Date of Patent: March 27, 2018
    Assignee: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION
Inventors: Charles Van Petegem, Aleksey Barykin, Philip Kokel, Michael J. Bertoja, Juan Pablo Guerra
  • Patent number: 9695677
Abstract: A system and methodology facilitates creation of perforations along a wellbore. The technique utilizes a perforating gun system having cooperating components, such as a carrier, a loading system, and a plurality of shaped charges. The cooperating components are constructed to break down into multiple smaller pieces upon detonation of the plurality of shaped charges. This allows the perforating gun system to effectively disappear within the wellbore such that any remaining small pieces do not interfere with well flow and/or later interventions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 24, 2012
Date of Patent: July 4, 2017
    Assignee: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION
Inventors: Alexander Moody-Stuart, Michael J. Bertoja, Aleksey Barykin
