  • Publication number: 20230331604
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the electrochemical control of the level of gene expression in purple non-sulfur bacteria, in particular Rhodobacter, and relative applications for the treatment of wastewater. The invention also relates to the use of fat-soluble redox mediators capable of permeabilizing the bacterial membrane and altering the oxidation state of the disulfide bond present in thioredoxins.

  • Publication number: 20080235082
Abstract: An integrated automatic system for monitoring and managing the access, transit and parking of vehicles in predetermined controlled traffic areas, in particular in parking areas equipped with a plurality of individual parking spaces comprises: an electronic vehicle identification device; an electronic vehicle detection device; at least one local data processing unit; at least one central data processing unit. The data transmitted by the electronic vehicle identification device are associated with the data relative to the electronic vehicle detection device and the result of this association is transmitted to one of the local data processing units. Furthermore, the data processed by the local units are transmitted to the central processing unit which generates a signal relative to the payment of a predetermined fee for the access and/or transit and/or parking of a vehicle inside the controlled area.

  • Publication number: 20080160600
Abstract: A system for monitoring blood groups and for detecting immunohematological reactions uses a detection device consisting of a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM), a device able to measure very small variations in mass (down to fractions of a nanogram).

  • Patent number: 6361789
Abstract: A synthetic material is disclosed, which is constituted by a copolymer of D, L-lactide and &egr;-caprolactone (which itself is characterized by lower degradation times than those obtainable with copolymers of L-lactic acid and &egr;-caprolactone), obtained by using as reaction control agent a sugar dianhyide with non-toxic characteristics. The use of suar dianhydrde in the reaction has a considerable control effect on the molecular weight of the copolymer and, thanks to its low molecular weight, this copolymer is characterized by extreraely short resorption times, in the order for the example of one or two months. The copolymer is used as covering clement to be placed around tendon sutures and/or nerve tracts with the aim of preventing formation of scarry adherences between the suture lines and the soft surrounding tissues.

  • Patent number: 6107453
Abstract: A process of surface activation of a material based on one or more of the copolymers of lactic acid and .epsilon.-caprolactone is carried out on bioabsorbable and biocompatible aliphatic polyesters chosen from the group formed by homo- and copolymers derived from L-lactide, D-lactide, racemic D,L-lactide, meso D,L Lactide, .epsilon.-caprolactone, glycolide, .delta.-valerolactone, p-dioxanone, preferably copolymers of L-lactide, D-lactide, racemic D,L lactide, meso D,L-lactide with .epsilon.-caprolactone; the process consists of performing at least one of the following treatments: acid or base hydrolysis, treatment by means of cold plasma, by chemical reactions or electromagnetic radiations. The process brings about a substantial increase in surface hydrophilicity and, consequently, a significant lowering of the wetting angle measured with water at 23 degrees Celsius in air.
