  • Patent number: 10028817
Abstract: A unitary or homogeneous patterned implant is provided. The implant is constructed of patterned cells formed by way of a molding, die casting, laser etching, laser cutting, extruding, and the like. Portions of the implant can be formed into sinusoid or other waveform strut members to control and promote elongation, expansion or contraction along single or multiple axes. As such, controlled and designated stress, tension and compression distribution is promoted across specific or localized areas of the implant.

  • Patent number: 9848889
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for preparing the interior of a bone for therapy. The therapy may include therapy for a bone fracture. The apparatus and methods may involve orienting a surgical instrument for proper deployment in the interior of the bone. An instrument guide may be positioned and retained against translation along, and rotation about one or more of three substantially orthogonal axes. Apparatus placed exterior to the bone may register the guide to a region inside the bone that is designated for preparation or treatment. One or more broaching members may be used to prepare the region for treatment. A broaching member may be expandable inside the bone. A broaching member may be flexible such that it broaches bone having a relatively lower density and it leaves bone having a relatively higher density substantially intact.

  • Publication number: 20170333102
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for delivery of an implant at a target site in an interior of a bone. The apparatus may include a plate. The plate may include a bottom surface complementing a surface contour of a bone. The plate may define first holes sized for receiving screws. The plate may define second holes sized for receiving fixation elements. The plate may define an opening. The opening may be sized for providing passage of the implant through the plate. When the bottom surface is seated complementarily against the surface contour, the first holes may point into an interior of the bone and into a volume occupied by the implant in the interior when the implant is positioned at a target site and radially expanded to form a mesh cage.

  • Publication number: 20170079546
Abstract: A flexible catheter includes an elongated body, and a sensor. The elongated body has proximal and distal end portions and defines a working channel therethrough. The sensor is disposed in the distal end portion of the elongated body and is adapted for detecting the position of a distal end of the elongated body within the anatomy of a patient. The sensor is formed from a wire that forms a first layer of wraps about the distal end portion of the elongated body and that includes first and second leads that form a twisted pair proximal to the first layer of wraps. The twisted pair of the first and second leads extends to the proximal end portion of the elongated body.

  • Publication number: 20160174873
Abstract: A medical instrument includes a sensor, a surface, at least one non-conductive material, and at least one pair of contacts. The sensor has at least one coil formed on a conductive material. The surface is suitable for receiving the sensor and can be placed in an EM field. The at least one non-conductive material covers the at least one coil of the sensor. The at least one pair of contacts are electrically connected to the at least one coil and connectable to a measurement device, which senses an induced electrical signal based on a magnetic flux change of the EM field. The location of the medical instrument in a coordinate system of the EM filed is identified based on the induced electrical signal in the sensor.
