  • Patent number: 11491440
Abstract: A feed containing methane and nitrogen gas is processed in a three-stage membrane system, each stage of which is selective for methane over nitrogen. The methane enriched permeate from the first stage is removed as product gas. The methane-depleted residue from the second stage is purified in second and third cascaded stages to provide second and third permeates and second and third residues. The third stage permeate is recycled to the feed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 3, 2019
Date of Patent: November 8, 2022
Assignee: Air Liquide Advanced Technologies U.S. LLC
Inventors: Paul Terrien, Alex Augustine, Kevin Weatherford, Yong Ding
  • Publication number: 20220219114
Abstract: An approach for separating a gaseous mixture includes a multi-stage membrane system in which a rubbery membrane is operated at a low temperature. Various streams are cooled and heated in a multi-fluid heat exchanger. In specific configurations, the multi-fluid heat exchanger is cooled by using no fluids other than fluids derived from the permeate and/or residue generated in the first membrane stage.
    Type: Application
    Filed: March 29, 2022
    Publication date: July 14, 2022
Applicant: Air Liquide Advanced Technologies U.S. LLC

  • Publication number: 20200368687
Abstract: An isotope separation method, including introducing a first reactant stream (109), containing a natural abundance of at least one desired isotopologue molecule, a second reactant stream (110), and a recycle stream (112) into a photochemical reactor (101), thus producing a raw product stream (115), introducing the raw product stream (115) into a separation device (116), thus producing at least a product stream (117), a gas filter stream (113), and the recycle stream (112), and introducing at least a portion of the gas filter stream (113) into an unconventional (gas) filter (103), wherein the product stream (117) includes the at least one desired isotopologue molecule.
