  • Publication number: 20110223816
Abstract: A multi-functional modular device comprises: a shaft; electric motor(s); battery(s); thrust producing fan(s); and blade(s) being removably attachable to the shaft for levering of a paddlesports boat. With the blade(s) attached to the shaft and the motor(s) off, the device is usable for manual levering, and with the motor(s) on, the fan blade thrust may selectively assist in levering to propel the paddlesports boat. Fan thrust may be usable in a direction opposite to a propulsive direction of levering to reduce work required per stroke, which reduces power per stroke, or may alternatively be usable in the same direction as propulsive levering to increase total propulsive power per stroke, which requires greater strength/work output by the rower/paddler. Various sized blades may be interchangeable therein to adjust the work output. Removing the blade(s) permits the fan to be statically submerged and clocked to propel the boat in a desired direction.

  • Patent number: 7169354
Abstract: A protein detecting device is disclosed. The device includes a reagent reservoir that is squeezable. The reagent reservoir has an end portion with a with a tubular member extending therefrom. This tubular member is hollow and in communication with the reservoir. The tubular member has an open end opposite the reservoir and has a cone shaped gasket in its open end. The cone shaped gasket has its base connected to an elongated member extending from the open end of the tubular member. The elongated member has a micro-brush at its end.

  • Publication number: 20060292042
Abstract: An apparatus for use in screening questionable substances is disclosed. The apparatus includes a means for receiving a canister of compressed gas. The canister has a discharge valve for releasing the compressed gas. The discharge valve is connected to a tube by means of an export duct, the export duct is aligned so that gas from said canister passes through the discharge valve into the export duct and then into tubing where it passes from the rear end of said tubing. The flow of gas from the export duct into the tubing creates a suction at the forward end of the tubing thereby causing a substance to be ingested into the forward end of the tubing and causing the substance to be passed from the rear end of the tubing.

  • Publication number: 20060009686
Abstract: An apparatus for examining patients for nevi is described. The apparatus includes a head piece having at least one positioning means for positioning a patient's head in a reproducible position from one examination to another. The head piece further includes a camera that is connected to the head piece that can take a picture of at least a portion of a patient's head at a first examination and substantially the same portion of a patient's head at a second examination. The position of the camera can be set so that the picture taken during the first examination can be accurately compared to the picture taken during the second examination.

  • Patent number: 6094778
Abstract: A portable vacuum cleaner for attaching to a can of compressed gas having an output for creating a suction. The cleaner includes a body, a nozzle attached to one end of the body, and a receptacle attached to the other end of the body. The body includes a cap for attaching to the can of compressed gas, and which has a throughbore. The body further includes an external tube that has an intermediate portion, a forward portion, and a rear portion. The receptacle includes a tube and an air permeable bag. The body further includes an internal tube, a valve, and a trigger, which when pressed, opens the valve which allows compressed gas in the can of compressed gas to exit through its output and flow through the internal tube into the rear portion of the external tube and thereby create a suction in the external tube which causes dirt to be drawn through the nozzle, through the external tube, through the tube of the receptacle, and be captured in the air permeable bag.
