  • Publication number: 20130169195
Abstract: Advanced Design Consulting, Inc. (ADC) has designed a slit where high accuracy is required. The system consists of vertical and horizontal slit mechanisms, a double sided flange which houses them, stepper motors with linear encoders, limit (home position) switches and electrical connections including internal wiring for a drain current measurement system. The total slit size is adjustable from 0 to 30 mm both vertically and horizontally depending on the flange size. Each of the four blades are individually controlled and motorized.

  • Publication number: 20130146792
Abstract: An integral shutter that is for use in several beamline applications. The shutter combines the features and properties of a pink beam photon shutter, a pink beam safety shutter, a pink beam fixed mask and a pink beam collimator. The device is important for synchrotron radiation facility personal safety. These assemblies are needed to guard against accidental positron beam loss during both injection and normal operation. Positron beam loss can result in high-energy radiation being directed into an experimental station.

  • Publication number: 20130146779
Abstract: A micro sized ionization chamber that serves as a radiation detector for use in hard X-ray beamline applications. It is the simplest of all devices in this category. The small size allows for closer placement to the sample being measured, without sacrificing the accuracy and componentry of a larger sized, gas filled ionization chamber.

  • Publication number: 20130108023
Abstract: A high-precision water-cooled, small offset, double crystal monochromator has been developed for use with beamline. The design incorporates the supports and gravity feed water cooling of two diamond or silicon crystals correctly positioned about a common rotation axis so that the incident and diffracted beam do not walk off the edges of the crystals within the energy range 6-15 KeV (30°<q<11.6°). In the 34ID implementation, the first crystal sees unfocussed pink beam from an undulator. The second crystal has a ±5° motorized tilt motion around an axis parallel to its face and around the beam direction.

  • Publication number: 20130105704
Abstract: A white beam slit. The embodiment of this unit consists of vertical and horizontal slit mechanisms, a vacuum vessel which houses them, stepper motors, limit switches, electrical connections for a drain current measurement system and a stand for the vacuum chamber to attach to. For the base design, the fully scanable aperture can be up to 35 mm square with a maximum aperture of 50 mm square. For custom designs, the aperture can be significantly larger. A cooling assembly is incorporated within to maintain temperature of moveable slit components.
