  • Patent number: 8514490
Abstract: Projection apparatuses and associated methods are provided. A representative apparatus includes: a support frame defining a projection area; a polymeric screen of sheet material sized and shaped to span at least a portion of the projection area; a retention member operative to contact the polymeric screen along an edge thereof; and a tensioning assembly operative to apply tension to the screen via the retention member, the tensioning assembly being operative to selectively reposition the retention member relative to the support frame.

  • Patent number: 8149509
Abstract: A projection screen apparatus having a retention member configured, in use, to be in contact with at least one surface of a screen along at least a portion of at least one edge of the screen. The projection screen may include polymeric material and the retention member may be bonded to the screen. The retention member may comprise a plurality of apertures and tensioning members extending through the apertures to apply tension to the screen. A portion of each tensioning member extending through the apertures to contact the retention member may be flexible and non-resilient. The retention member may be configured to allow slidable engagement with the plurality of tensioning members. Each retention member may comprise biasing means configured to bias each retention member away from a neighboring retention member, the biasing means adjustable to vary the bias applied when the screen is in situ.

  • Publication number: 20110235702
Abstract: A codec comprising a video input (33) for receiving a continuous video stream, an encoder (42) for encoding the video stream to result in an encoded video stream, a video output (37) for transmitting the video stream and switching means (39). The switching means is for switching the encoded video stream during encoding between a first mode, in which the video stream is encoded in accordance with a first encoding format, to a second mode, in which the video stream is encoded in accordance with a second encoding format. The invention also relates to a corresponding codec for decoding the video stream. In another aspect the invention concerns a processor for identifying an outline of a subject within a video image.
