    Abstract: A thermoplastic elastomer compound having a hardness value less than or equal to 95 Shore A, comprising a thermoplastic elastomer and between about 0.1% and about 20% by weight aramid filler in the form of a powder with a length/diameter ratio of approximately 1:1 is provided. The thermoplastic elastomer may suitably comprise one or more styrenic block copolymers or a traditional thermoset rubber incorporating a thermoplastic resin. Handlebar grips made of such compounds have improved wear resistant properties.
