  • Publication number: 20200122660
Abstract: Techniques are described for component design based on sensor data. Sensor data is collected by sensors in, or proximal to, a system under diagnosis (e.g., a vehicle), the sensor data describing use of one or more components of the system by one or more individuals. The sensor data from various instances of the component may be aggregated and analyzed to determine update(s) to the design of the component. For example, the aggregate sensor data may be analyzed to identify portions of the component frequently associated with movements by users (e.g., fidgeting, adjustments). The identified portion(s) can be presented graphically in a design view used to specify design modification(s) for the component. In some implementations, the aggregate sensor data is provided as input to a model that is trained, using machine learning, to output design modification(s) for the component based on the input aggregate sensor data.

  • Patent number: 10613678
Abstract: Haptic feedback can be provided to a user via an input device to give a user a richer interaction experience with the input device and host device. The input device can include a magnet and a host device can include an array of coils. The coils can be driven to generate a magnetic field (or one or more magnetic fields) that can exert a force on the input device to provide haptic feedback. In some examples, the haptic feedback can be a push force pushing the input device away from the device or a pull force pulling the input device toward the device. In some examples, the haptic feedback can guide the input device using lateral forces. The haptic feedback described herein can be used for writing, drawing or actuating virtual input controls in a user interface.

  • Patent number: 10615967
Abstract: A computing device uses a data encryption and decryption system that includes a trusted runtime and an inline cryptographic processor. The trusted runtime provides a trusted execution environment, and the inline cryptographic processor provides decryption and encryption of data in-line with storage device read and write operations. When a portion (e.g., partition) of a storage device is defined, the trusted runtime generates an encryption key and provides the encryption key to the inline cryptographic processor, which uses the encryption key to encrypt data written to the portion and decrypt data read from the portion. Access to the portion can be subsequently protected by associating the key with authentication credentials of a user or other entity. The trusted runtime protects the encryption key based on an authentication key associated with the authentication credentials, allowing subsequent access to the encryption key only in response to the proper authentication credentials being provided.

  • Publication number: 20200103972
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media provide multiple modes of haptic feedback for an electronic device using a single haptic actuator. Adjusting a parameter (e.g., frequency) of an actuator waveform generated by the single haptic actuator may affect how a mechanical coupling between the haptic actuator and a portion of the electronic device produces a device waveform at that device portion from the actuator waveform. A first mechanical coupling with a first response characteristic (e.g., stiffness or resonance frequency) may be provided between the haptic actuator and a first portion of the electronic device (e.g., a user input component of the electronic device), while a second mechanical coupling with a different second response characteristic may be provided between the haptic actuator and a second portion of the electronic device (e.g., the device housing of the electronic device) to selectively provide localized haptic feedback at the first portion of the electronic device.
