  • Patent number: 4230676
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for composting organic material, wherein a plurality of frame members are spaced from each other, and a plurality of support members are connected to each frame members. Hollow, perforated conduits are connected to and extend between corresponding support members of adjacent frame members. The conduits are movable vertically along the support members. An evacuator withdraws fluid from the compost material through the conduits, and an injector may inject treatment material into the compost material through the conduits. An analysis system is provided to analyze the composting state of the organic material and to determine any treatment necessary required by the organic material as a result of the analysis of the composting state.

  • Patent number: 4224821
Abstract: A cake sensor which includes a rotatable, hollow cylindrical shell adapted to be positioned within a flow of falling cake material and a piston within the shell. The shell has an opening therein through which the cake material will enter the shell, and to one end of the shell are connected a fluid source and a density sensor. The piston extends through the other end of the cylinder and is driven by a torque motor to compress cake material which falls into the cylinder through the opening. The various measurements developed by the density sensor, the torque developed by the torque motor, and the distance traveled by the piston are utilized to determine the characteristics of the cake material. A method for determining the quality of the cake material is also presented.

  • Patent number: 4160734
Abstract: A novel mobile system for cleaning and processing catch basin and/or lagoon waste products is described wherein the degree of waste product dilution is carefully controlled prior to transmission to mobile dewatering truck capable of producing a substantially dry land fill suitable end product and water suitable for recirculation or environmentally acceptable discharge to a process head or sanitary sewer.

  • Patent number: 4159248
Abstract: A novel mobile system for cleaning and processing catch basin and/or lagoon waste products is described wherein the degree of waste product dilution is carefully controlled prior to transmission to a mobile dewatering truck. The truck comprises dewatering apparatus which is uniquely controlled to produce a substantially dry land fill suitable end product and water suitable for recirculation or environmentally acceptable discharge to a process head or sanitary sewer.

  • Patent number: 4082672
Abstract: A novel trailer is described which is particularly well-suited for receiving, transporting and unloading sludges which range in consistency from nearly liquid to semi-solid or otherwise extremely viscous materials. The novel trailer of the present invention is adapted to selectively promote aerobic or anaerobic digestion of the sludges contained therein by utilizing a novel pressure equalization system and other means. Further, the pressure of gases, particularly methane gas, which is produced as a result of said digestion is harnessed in part to facilitate the easy unloading of sludge from the trailer. Additionally, auxiliary pressurization means is provided to pressurize the head space within said tank during unloading, while a novel ejection means is disposed adjacent to or within the discharge opening which will supply, if desired, an aerated product under pressure for transfer to adjacent facilities without additional pumping.
