  • Patent number: 11639828
Abstract: A heat exchanger for a gas turbine engine comprising a compressor, a combustor and a turbine. The heat exchanger comprising alternating hot and cold channels. Compressed air from the compressor flows through the cold channels and exhaust gas from the turbine flows through the hot channels. Each cold channel comprises first and second opposing surfaces conveying compressed air along a first path. Each cold channel comprises rows of vortex generators and pin fins extending from the first or second surfaces along the first path. The rows extend substantially perpendicular to the first path. Each hot channel is defined by a first and second opposing surfaces conveying exhaust gas along a second path substantially perpendicular to the first path. Each hot channel comprises rows of vortex generators and pin fins extending from the first or second surfaces along the second path. The rows extend substantially perpendicularly to the second path.

  • Publication number: 20200107843
Abstract: A system and method is provided for generating ultrasound at the tip of an intravascular catheter. This may be used for the treatment of vascular occlusions, including chronic total occlusions (CTOs) and thrombotic occlusions (e.g., deep vein thrombosis, stroke, myocardial infarction). For instance, the systems and methods may be used to induce cavitation to enhance the enzymatic degradation of a vascular occlusion. In some configurations, the approach employs a hollow cylindrical transducer, electrically stimulated in the radial direction at a frequency corresponding to the length mode excitation, thereby projecting ultrasound forwards past the catheter tip. This design overcomes electrical impedance issues for the generation of low frequencies with a smaller diameter transducer capable of negotiating a coronary artery. The hole within the transducer may accommodate a guidewire to facilitate its placement adjacent to the proximal portion of the occlusion.

  • Patent number: 8878013
Abstract: The present invention provides novel melon plants and plant parts, seed, fruit, and tissue culture therefrom. The invention also provides methods for producing a melon plant by crossing the melon plants of the invention with themselves or another melon plant. The invention also provides plants produced from such a crossing as well as plant parts, seed, fruit, and tissue culture therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20070043628
Abstract: A method of broadcasting that allows users to purchase and download unmixed songs online in real-time as they are played in a mixed musical performance. The user can engage either a real-time link, or offline song flag, allowing for the future purchase of the selected intellectual property. This process makes broadcasting immediately profitable to both artists, labels and broadcasters, and is primarily intended for increasing the accessibility of lesser known music.
