Abstract: In one aspect, a reconfigurable apparatus includes a first configuration, where the first configuration of the reconfigurable apparatus serves as a packaging box for a backpack. Specifically, the backpack may be folded and inserted inside the reconfigurable apparatus with the first configuration. The reconfigurable apparatus also includes a second configuration, where the second configuration of the reconfigurable apparatus serves as a structure for the backpack. Specifically, the reconfigurable apparatus with the second configuration can be inserted inside the backpack to provide an internal structure for the backpack.

Abstract: A wireless repeater with a diverse communications interface capability and the method of managing the same, in which the wireless repeater is prepared with multiple wireless/mobile communications system drivers and can switch to an appropriate system driver to match the target system, that may only support a particular version of wireless communications protocols, running on a remote personal communications device, a mobile communications system, or a WLAN for establishing bi-directional communication between the personal computing device and the target system. Further, the wireless repeater can also be operated with a net phone (VoIP), and support infra-red transmission. Thus, the present invention accomplishes the goals of integrating a computer and a communications device under one system, reducing user's telephone rates and increasing system mobility.

Abstract: A method of verifying and managing multiple systems in a wireless communications device and the apparatus thereof is disclosed, through which an appropriate wireless communications system can be automatically selected from several other alternative systems to log in a target network system. Also, the selection process of wireless communications system can be carried out according to a user-defined priority basing on a set of external conditions that is related to the network operation costs, so that the network user can attain high efficiency of network usage using the above apparatus.

Abstract: A method of making emergency telephone calls through the mobile communications system to the nearest emergency service unit and the automatic calling apparatus for making such call are provided, wherein the emergency call is transmitted through a mobile communications network, and a list of useful emergency service units with telephone numbers and area codes is kept by the above apparatus. The emergency service units may be distributed across different districts, and the automatic calling apparatus is still able to keep track of the current location of the user dynamically through the regular line connection with the mobile communications network and matching with a local area code. When the emergency button is pressed, an emergency call will be sent out to the nearest emergency service unit, thus the call-response time can be well controlled for making a rapid response.
