  • Publication number: 20120130760
Abstract: Illustrated is a system and method for modeling and predicting call center service calls to plan staffing needs based upon historical call center volume data and product life cycle data for the product being serviced by the call center. It includes identifying adjusted historical monthly call volume data. Additionally, the system and method includes transforming the adjusted historical monthly call volume data, using a forecasting algorithm, into a long-term trend and season effect forecast. Further, the system and method includes transforming the adjusted historical monthly call volume data, using a regression algorithm, into a long-term product life cycle based forecast. Additionally, the system and method includes adjusting a point prediction, based on the long-term product life cycle based forecast to create a long-term adjusted monthly forecast, the point prediction adjusted where it exceeds a data point in a bound forecast generated from the long-term trend and season effect forecast.

  • Patent number: 7938382
Abstract: A stepper motor and controller are provided for controllably adjusting the angular displacement of a rotor. The stepper motor has a plurality of stator coils that are configured to effect rotation of the rotor upon application of a voltage thereto. The stepper motor further includes one or more sensing coils, where rotation of the rotor generates an induced voltage in the one or more sensing coils. A controller is included for processing the induced voltage signals, and is configured to output a constant vector value that does not change in value where the induced voltage signals are indicative of the rotor rotating in a continuous manner, and to output a diverging vector value where the induced voltage signals are indicative of the rotor being inhibited from rotating. The controller is configured to determine the rotor's angular displacement from the constant vector value, and to detect occurrence of the rotor being inhibited from rotating from a diverging vector value.

  • Patent number: 7913172
Abstract: A method for controlling access to an XML document includes referencing a schema definition comprising a path security label definition associated with a sibling-to-sibling path of an XML document. An XML document may then be validated by comparing it with the schema definition. This validation may include verifying that the XML document has a path security label associated with a sibling-to-sibling path that is at least as restrictive as that specified by the path security label definition. An access security label may be assigned to a user seeking to access the sibling-to-sibling path. The path security label and the access security label may then be compared, using pre-determined access rules, to determine whether the user is authorized to access the sibling-to-sibling path. Access to the sibling-to-sibling path may then be granted or denied according to the access rules.

  • Patent number: 7813384
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method and a system for reducing synchronization of data in a network is disclosed. The method includes generating a string based on the configuration in a first network device. Thereafter, the generated string is hashed to form a first integer. The first integer is used to identify an object. Subsequently, the identified object is utilized for synchronization between the first network device and a second network device. As a result, the need for synchronization of the data is reduced.
