  • Publication number: 20140159990
Abstract: An electronic circuit that needs to transmit or receive radio waves achieves that goal by using an antenna. This disclosure teaches an antenna that can be mounted on an edge of a circuit board. This disclosure teaches antenna shapes that, when mounted on an edge of a circuit board, can advantageously make contact with circuits on both sides of the board. Some antenna shapes have protruding portions with springiness that facilitates affixing the antenna to the board and facilitates reliable electrical contacts with the circuits. The disclosure also teaches methods for mounting an antenna on an edge of a circuit board.

  • Patent number: 7821470
Abstract: An antenna for a wireless communication may include a ground plane provided on a carrying structure, a feed element, and a radiating element coupled to the feed element, the radiating element being substantially parallel to and vertically displaced from the ground plane by the feed element and a shortening element. The antenna may also include a parasitic element provided directly on the carrying structure as part of the carrying structure ground layer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 18, 2008
Date of Patent: October 26, 2010
Assignee: Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB
    Inventor: Alexander Azhari
  • Patent number: 7679567
Abstract: An antenna may include a conductive material formed in a pattern on an antenna housing, where one end of the conductive material connects to a ground connection. The antenna may further include a tuning stub, having a length (l0), connected to the conductive material at a distance (d0) from the ground connection, where the distance (d0) tunes a resonance of the antenna.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 16, 2010
Assignee: Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB

  • Publication number: 20100013730
Abstract: An antenna arrangement may include: a ground plane, a feed element, and a radiating element coupled to the feed element, the radiating element being substantially parallel to and vertically displaced from the ground plane by the feed element and a shortening element. The antenna may also include a conductive portion coupled to the ground plane using a switching element, the conductive portion being configured to alter the size of the ground plane.
