  • Patent number: 6719671
Abstract: What is described here is a device for facilitating the locomotion of a person by himself or herself by means of a spring system for removable attachment to both legs of the person, which spring system enables the person, by compression and deflection of at least one spring element, to walk on the ground by jumping step by step. The invention is distinguished by the provisions that the spring element is a leaf spring having an arc-shaped configuration, on the concave side of which a leverage mechanism is provided that is fixedly connected for rotation to the leaf spring via two separate fixing means and a base plate on which the respective foot of the person may be placed and which is connected, on the one hand, via at least one rotary pin bearing and one connecting rod to the first fixing means and, on the other hand, to the other fixing means either directly or via a central support rigidly connected to the base plate.

  • Patent number: 6625989
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and an apparatus for the cooling of the casing (1) of the turbines (2, 3) of jet engines, in which cooling air is diverted from a bypass flow and supplied to the outer side of the casing via an inlet duct (8) provided with a shut-off element (5). According to the present invention, the cooling air is supplied to a first chamber (6) in which it is divided by volume. One portion of the cooling air is issued to the casing (1) via orifice holes (10), while another portion is ducted via several tubes (9) to a second chamber (7) which annularly encloses the casing (1) in the area of a low-pressure turbine (3).

  • Patent number: 6568688
Abstract: This invention relates to a hydraulic seal arrangement between two, more particularly co-rotating shafts of especially a gas turbine engine, where the radially outer shaft when viewed with reference to the shafts' axis of rotation has an annulus extending radially outward along its circumference into which the radially inner shaft when viewed with reference to the shafts' axis of rotation projects with a web that extends radially outward across its circumference, and which annulus can through an inlet area be filled siphon-fashion under centrifugal effect with a hydraulic medium at least in the area of the free end of the web when the shaft(s) is (are) rotating. In accordance with the present invention, means are provided for exhausting part of the hydraulic medium, said means branching off from an annulus area that is farthest away from the inlet area.

  • Patent number: 6416246
Abstract: This invention relates to an arrangement for the connection of two rotor disks of an axial-flow turbomachine arranged one behind the other, more particularly two turbine rotor disks of an aero-engine, in which connecting arms protruding from the rotor disks in the axial direction and facing each other are separably joined together by way of several bolts distributed along their circumference. According to the present invention, these bolts are arranged in the radial direction. In a preferential embodiment, each connecting arm features an alternation of prongs extending in the axial direction and of adjacent recesses, with the prongs of the connecting arm of one rotor disk engaging the recesses of the connecting arm of the other rotor disk. A retaining ring subdivided into individual ring segments lodges against the inner side of the connecting arms and is connected to at least one of the two connecting arms by means of bolts.

  • Patent number: 6173566
Abstract: A casing construction is provided on a gas turbine having a fan downstream of which a precompressor is situated, the precompressor casing being detachably connected with the casing of the compressor which follows the precompressor—viewed in the flow direction. An upstream end section of the precompressor casing is additionally linked to the compressor casing by at least two tension-rod-type tension devices which are situated essentially diametrically opposite one another with respect to the longitudinal axis of the gas turbine. Steel cables are preferably used as the tension devices and are fastened at least on one of the two casings by means of a tension-nut-type end piece. As a result, the precompressor casing can be constructed of a non-high-strength material and, in addition, can be linked by means of several pairs of tension-rod type tension devices to the casing of the compressor.
