  • Patent number: 6014917
Abstract: Self adjusting pliers for grasping a workpiece include first and second plier members each including a handle portion, a jaw portion, and an intermediate portion therebetween. The self-adjusting pliers include a first pivot pin about which the first and second plier members pivot permitting the jaw portions to converge on a workpiece and grasp the workpiece in response to initial movement of the handle portions toward each other. The self adjusting pliers further include a second pivot pin about which the pliers pivot once pivoting has been terminated about the first pivot pin so as to permit a further grasping force to be applied to the workpiece in response to continued movement of the handle portions toward each other. The second pivot pin is closer to the jaw portions than the first pivot pin to allow for a greater mechanical advantage to be obtained. The self adjusting pliers also include a biasing spring for biasing the handle portions away from each other and the jaw portions away from each other.

  • Patent number: 5228598
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for diluting and dispensing fluid concentrates which comprises a frame having a least one compartment therein for insertion of a liquid holding container. Mounted within the frame is a water valve housing which is adapted to interface with a venturi housing affixed to the liquid holding container. The water valve housing has affixed thereto a valve which is manually actuated. In response to the depression or release of the actuation means, the valve is substantially either fully open or fully closed. The water valve housing includes locking means for preventing the valve from being operated by the manual actuation means when the liquid holding container is not properly inserted into the dilution station. The refill modules of the present invention include the venturi housing and liquid holding container mentioned above.

  • Patent number: 5086788
Abstract: A hand-held physiological stimulation and treatment signal applicator. The applicator includes a housing having a portion in which electrical controls are mounted for facilitated manipulation thereof by the user's hand embracing the housing portion in the use of the apparatus. Different types of physiological treatment signals may be provided separately or in combination from the associated power sources and controlled by the housing mounted controls. The applicator head provided for facial engagement with the patient's tissue is swivelly mounted to the end of the applicator housing for facilitated adjustment of the head to insure desired facial engagement between the head and patient's tissue. Structure is provided for providing positive grasping of the applicator housing adjacent the applicator head while preventing interference between the user's fingers and the patient's tissue adjacent the head.

Mounted within the frame is a water valve housing which is adapted to interface with a venturi housing affixed to the liquid holding container. The water valve housing has affixed thereto a solenoid valve which is manually actuated by moving a magnet into and out of close proximity with the stem of the solenoid valve. The water valve housing includes locking means for preventing the solenoid valve from being operated by the manual actuation means when the liquid holding container is not properly inserted into the dilution station. The refill modules of the present invention include the venturi housing and liquid holding container mentioned above.
