  • Patent number: 10082059
Abstract: A system for recovering electrical energy and water from exhaust gasses. The system includes a thermoelectric generator to produce electricity from the waste heat of the exhaust gasses of internal combustion engines and the like. The exhaust is cooled by the thermoelectric generator, air cycle machine and other heat absorbing devise which, through work, reduce the exhaust gas temperature and promote condensation of the water.

  • Patent number: 9850798
Abstract: A fluid flow control unit, in a preferred embodiment, mounted on a section of pipe having a tubular wall forming a fluid flow passage with a flow axis, the unit having a gate section, and a gate pivot section, the pivot section having a body portion mounted on the pipe outer wall surface, a gate mounting cavity formed in the body portion and opening through the pipe wall and providing an access port for the gate section to the mounting cavity, a pivot shaft positioned in the cavity and mounted on bearing structure on the body portion, the diameter of the shaft being dimensioned to allow a laterally curved gate which is affixed to a surface portion of the shaft to pivot up against a ceiling of the pipe to thereby be out of the flow passage main stream at a full open, non-blocking position of the gate, and a gate position control structure on the unit for allowing predetermined degrees of rotation of the pivot shaft in response to the magnitude of fluid flow pressure forces directed against the gate.

  • Patent number: 9174143
Abstract: A system for recovering water from exhaust gasses, including a chamber having a first section for diverting and cooling a portion of the exhaust gases, and a second section for removing drinking water from the cooled gases. The first section slows down the flow rate of the diverted portion of exhaust gases and includes spaced apart helical tubes through which is passed a cooling fluid. The second section includes spaced apart helical tubes having a fluid permeable sidewall for travel of water from the exhaust gasses into the interior of the tubes of the second section. The tubes of the second section are coated on the exterior thereof with a porous material that promotes migration of drinking water from the exterior to the interior of the tubes.

  • Patent number: 8439159
Abstract: A new and improved muffler for use particularly with internal combustion engines which utilizes a tube assembly composed of a plurality of laterally nested perforated and non-perforated tubes in direct supporting lateral engagement with each other wherein the perforations provide direct communication of exhaust gases therebetween and wherein the tube assembly is supported at opposite ends by frustoconical entrance and exit collars, the larger ends of the collars being crimped or otherwise secured thereto providing a sealed connection.

  • Patent number: 6808552
Abstract: Filtration method and device for filtering solid contaminants from a stream of a flowing fluid such as internal combustion engine intake air. An imperforate housing has a tubular inlet exiting at its downstream end into a conically divergent first wall section terminating in a maximum diameter apex. A convergent second wall section terminates at a housing outlet opening of greater diameter than that of the housing inlet. A perforate filter element disposed within the housing conical portions has an exterior configuration generally complimental to the housing interior, and thus has a first generally conical divergent section, and a second generally conical downstream section convergent from a maximum diameter apex of the filter element and defining the filter device outlet. The housing and filter element define therebetween first and second frustoconical annular fluid flow chambers of successively diminishing cross-sectional radial thickness in the direction of downstream fluid flow.

  • Publication number: 20030089233
Abstract: An improved air filtration method and device for filtering solid contaminants from a stream of a flowing fluid such as internal combustion engine intake air. An imperforate housing has a tubular inlet exiting at its downstream end into a conically divergent first wall section terminating in a maximum diameter apex, and then continues in a convergent second wall section that terminates at a housing outlet opening of greater diameter than that of the housing inlet. A perforate filter element disposed within the interior chamber defined by the housing conical portions has an exterior configuration generally complimental to the housing interior, and thus has a first generally conical section divergent at a taper angle greater than that of the housing first wall section, and a second generally conical downstream section convergent from a maximum diameter apex of the filter at a fourth taper angle less than that of the housing second wall section and defining the filter device outlet.

  • Patent number: 5248859
Abstract: An exhaust collector for use with an internal combustion engine of the type having a plurality of generally nested exhaust tubes for individually receiving exhaust gases from separate associated engine exhaust ports. The collector is frustoconically shaped and has an open upstream end sealingly engaged with the downstream ends of the exhaust tubes to receive exhaust gases directly therefrom. The collector is oriented with its generally conical shape convergent in the downstream direction, and includes an internal cone shaped stem piece oriented with its longitudinal axis coaxial of the collector. A base portion of the stem piece is nested between and extends from the downstream ends of the exhaust tubes, and an apex end of the stem piece is generally aligned with the collector downstream end. The collector interior wall defines a smooth cylindrical surface when taken in radial cross section at any position along generally the entire length of the axis of the collector downstream of the tube exit ends.
