  • Publication number: 20230054769
Abstract: Disclosed herein, among other things, are systems and methods for obtaining stereo reception of an audio stream by multiple audio devices when only a single endpoint is the intended recipient. A system includes a first audio device and one or more second audio devices. The first audio device receives a first signal from a central device via a first wireless connection, transfers to the one or more second audio devices via a second wireless connection a second signal to enable the one or more second audio devices to eavesdrop on the first wireless connection, receives the incoming audio packet via the first wireless connection, and sends the incoming audio packet to the one or more second audio devices via the second wireless connection. The one or more second audio devices receives the incoming audio packet using the second wireless connection or by eavesdropping on the first wireless connection.

  • Publication number: 20220286553
Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to hearing device systems that can utilize proxy devices to convey emergency communications. In an embodiment, the system operates in a first communication mode and a second communication mode. The first communication mode can include the hearing device being paired to a wireless communication enabled device for conveying data to a non-local network as initiated by the hearing device. The second communication mode can include the hearing device accessory being paired to the wireless communication enabled device for conveying data to the non-local network as initiated by the hearing device. The system can enter the second communication mode when the hearing device cannot communicate with the wireless communication enabled device. The hearing device accessory uses a hardware address of the hearing device to communicate with the wireless communication enabled device as if it was paired thereto. Other embodiments are also included herein.

  • Patent number: 9980061
Abstract: A hearing aid may utilize a companion microphone, separate from the hearing aid itself, for improving the understanding of speech spoken by a particular person or produced by a particular sound source. The companion microphone is a battery-powered hearing aid accessory device that picks up ambient sound and transmits corresponding radio signals to the hearing aid. Described herein are schemes help to preserve battery life in a companion microphone by using adaptive radio transmission power control.

  • Patent number: 9544699
Abstract: Disclosed in some examples are methods, systems, apparatus, and machine readable mediums which mitigate multipath fading and extend the robustness and the useable range of the wireless link between a streaming device and a hearing assistance device. In some examples, this may be accomplished by utilizing redundant wireless sources of the streaming data—that is, multiple copies of the streaming information may be sent to the hearing assistance devices. To prevent interference, at least one transmission parameter may be varied between the transmissions (e.g., frequency, channel, time, coding, or the like).
