  • Patent number: 10481794
Abstract: A method is used in determining suitability of storage. Storage data of a data storage system is analyzed. The storage data includes information associated with use of a storage object of the data storage system by an application of the data storage system. A storage suitability characteristic for the storage object is determined. The storage suitability characteristic for the storage object is provided to a user for provisioning storage for the application in the data storage system.

  • Patent number: 9323819
Abstract: A method is used in facilitating valid data entry. Data is received from a single data entry field. Based on a data entry event, the data is checked for validity against multiple permissible data formats. Based on the checking, validity checking results are generated.

  • Patent number: 8504787
Abstract: Described are techniques for determining storage requirements for data protection. An initial size of a data protection area is determined. The data protection area provides storage for data obtained as a result of performing a data protection process for a first data area. The initial size is determined as a mathematical product of a first size of the first data area for which data protection is performed, a retention time, and a rate of change. Monitoring for an occurrence of one of a plurality of trigger events is performed. In response to an occurrence of one of the plurality of trigger events, it is determined whether an adjustment to a current size of the data protection area is needed.

  • Patent number: 6301605
Abstract: A file array storage architecture comprises a file system that is distributed across a data processing platform consisting of a host computer coupled to an adapter over a high-speed, low latency interface and an input/output subsystem that is located entirely on the adapter. The distributed nature of the architecture enables implementation of the file system in accordance with a modified client-server computing model; that is, the architecture includes a client file system executing on the host computer and a server file system executing on the adapter.

  • Patent number: 6219693
Abstract: A file away storage architecture comprises a file system that is distributed across a data processing platform consisting of a host computer coupled to an adapter over a high-speed, low latency interface and an input/output subsystem that is located entirely on the adapter. The distributed nature of the architecture enables implementation of the file system in accordance with a modified client-server computing model; that is, the architecture includes a client file system executing on the host computer and a server file system executing on the adapter.

  • Patent number: 5583537
Abstract: A pausing and resuming utility in a computer graphics application allows the user to temporarily suspend a user-interactive operation without completing it. The user may resume the operation where it was suspended and continue in the same manner as if it had not been suspended. While the operation is suspended, the user need not maintain the system input device in any particular state and may use a Help function to obtain system operating instructions.
