  • Publication number: 20060168173
Abstract: Device management commands are augmented with a condition that is evaluated prior to the command being executed at a managed device. If the condition is met, the command is executed; otherwise, execution of the command is rejected. An agent for operating a network device comprises a parser that receives from a network manager a conditional command communication that includes a condition and at least one management command. A preprocessor evaluates the condition. A command processor executes the management command if the condition is met, and transmits to the network manager a response indicative of management command execution status.

  • Publication number: 20050114495
Abstract: A method and mechanism for communicating an alarm in a computer network is provided. An alarm system enables a MSP to accurately determine which device within a computer network is associated to a received alarm. Initially, an event is detected on a device on the computer network. An alarm is propagated to an alarm identification component. The alarm identification component augmenting the alarm with identification information to result in creating an augmented alarm. Thereafter, the augmented alarm is transmitted to a network operations center for the computer network. The network operations center may process the alarm using the additional information in the alarm. Accordingly, using the augmented alarm, the MSP is able to accurately determine the identity of the originating device, regardless of whether the customer site of the originating device uses NAT or a private IP addressing scheme.

  • Patent number: 6865162
Abstract: A method and apparatus for elimination of clipping associated with VAD-directed silence suppression includes receiving a voice signal in a buffer during the delay between the start of voice activity and the detection of the voice activity. Then, the voice signal is played from the buffer in condensed form, e.g., by dropping packets or slightly accelerating playback of the signal from the buffer. After voice activity is detected, the voice signal may continue to be buffered and condensed until the buffer is completely depleted. The voice signal may then be transmitted directly, without being buffered or condensed.

  • Publication number: 20040120318
Abstract: A method includes receiving a request to provision a path associated with at least a portion of a packet network and determining whether a router is associated with the path in the packet network. The method also includes provisioning a first connection between a first gateway and a second gateway when the router is not associated with the path. The method further includes provisioning a second connection between the first gateway and the router and a third connection between the router and the second gateway when the router is associated with the path. In addition, the method includes at least one of associating and disassociating a first endpoint of the first gateway and a second endpoint of the second gateway with one or more of the connections.
