  • Publication number: 20240403319
Abstract: Some techniques are described herein for tracking items across different devices. Such techniques synchronize a portion of each item while locally storing another portion. In some examples, the synchronization is performed via a conflict-free replicated data type (CRDT) and includes exchanging state vectors and/or hashes corresponding to portions of items that are being synchronized. Other techniques incrementally update local views of data as new data is received. Such techniques use storage plans that maintain operations for different local views. Other techniques manage the order of updates of different local views of data using various sets of criteria described herein. For example, some views can intentionally be left out of date while other views can be updated more frequently to satisfy requests for such views.

  • Patent number: 12135989
Abstract: The present invention includes embodiments of systems and methods for facilitating users' selection of compute infrastructure options that satisfy predefined performance goals. The integrated, multi-provider cloud-based platform of the present invention employs abstraction layers for communicating with and integrating the resources of multiple back-end hardware providers, multiple software providers and multiple license servers. These abstraction layers and associated functionality free users not only from having to implement and configure provider-specific protocols, but also from having to address interdependencies among selected hardware, software and license servers on a job-level basis or at other levels of granularity.

  • Patent number: 12135653
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for implementing flexible dictionary sharing techniques for caches are disclosed. A set-associative cache includes a dictionary for each data array set. When a cache line is to be allocated in the cache, a cache controller determines to which set a base index of the cache line address maps. Then, a selector unit determines which dictionary of a group of dictionaries stored by those sets neighboring this set would achieve the most compression for the cache line. This dictionary is then selected to compress the cache line. An offset is added to the base index of the cache line to generate a full index in order to map the cache line to the set corresponding to this chosen dictionary. The compressed cache line is stored in this set with the chosen dictionary, and the offset is stored in the corresponding tag array entry.

  • Patent number: 12072913
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for implementing programmatic input/output (I/O) routing to datasets with user-defined partitions while providing unhandled data protection. As disclosed herein, a user may define a dataset as including one or more partitions, each partition including criteria for storing data objects written to the partitioned dataset in the individual partitions. Data objects written to the dataset can then be evaluated according to the criteria, and routed to an appropriate partition. To provide unhandled data protection, a dataset definition can include a default partition to which data objects are routed when the data object fails to satisfy the criteria of any of the set of user-defined partitions identified in the specification. Processing I/O operations according to a user-defined partitioning schema can enable data objects to be arranged according to any partitioning schema without tethering the partitioning to a particular underlying storage system.
