  • Patent number: 5589041
Abstract: A plasma processing system for sputter etching a substrate with reduced particle contamination comprises a plasma processing chamber having an interior surface which defines a processing space containing a substrate. An electrical element couples electrical energy into a portion of the processing space to generate a plasma therein for etching the substrate. A heating device is coupled to the reactor and is operable for controllably heating the processing chamber interior surface to a selected temperature. The heating device is controlled by a temperature control circuit which turns the heating device to an ON state and operates the heating device to heat the processing chamber to a selected temperature when the electrical element is not coupling energy to the processing chamber and the plasma is extinguished.

  • Patent number: 5586876
Abstract: In a high side, vertical, twin cylinder rolling piston hermetic compressor, a portion of the high pressure gas is diverted from the chamber defined by the lower muffler and the pump bearing to the axial bore of the crankshaft. The crankshaft extends into the oil sump such that rotation of the shaft produces a pumping action for pumping oil from the sump to structure requiring lubrication. Additionally, the flow diverted from the chamber to the axial bore produces a jet pump effect which supplements the pumping action produced by the rotating shaft, particularly at low speed.

  • Patent number: 5584972
Abstract: A plasma noise and arcing suppressor apparatus and method includes a suppressor circuit electrically coupled between a DC power supply and a sputter target inside of a deposition chamber. The suppressor circuit includes an inductive element electrically connected in parallel with a rectifying element. An anode of the rectifying element is coupled to the negative output terminal of the DC power supply such that during a random fluctuation in sputtering current level at the output of the power supply, attributable to random electrical noise and arcing conditions in the sputtering plasma inside the chamber, the rectifying element is negatively biased and is generally non-conductive and the inductive element stores current energy from the sputtering current level fluctuation.

  • Patent number: 5578201
Abstract: A reusable apparatus for multiphase, multistage countercurrent liquid separation is presented. The apparatus is particular useful in progressive multistage separation of target microorganisms from background organisms and materials with precise transfer, air exclusion, homogeneous mixing, isolation from the ambient atmosphere, in the absence of valves and at ow cost. The structure has at least one chamber in which a piston-like sliding bottom is sealingly moved or braked and includes internal structure for mixing, preferably a magnetic-stainless steel ball which can be reciprocated from the outside to mix the liquid contents. Motion of the bottom is limited by stops. A number of ways to actuate the apparatus are taught.

  • Patent number: 5573597
Abstract: The plasma processing system comprises a processing chamber with a processing space therein to contain a substrate. An electrical element is operable to couple electrical energy into the processing space to generate a plasma and is further operable to interrupt the power to the processing space to extinguish the plasma upon completion of the processing. An electrode positioned inside the chamber is electrically coupled to the substrate and to a DC bias power supply which selectively supplies DC power to the electrode to bias the substrate.

  • Patent number: 5569363
Abstract: A shade is disposed on the inner wall of an inductively coupled plasma chamber, covering a protected zone of the wall generally opposite to the inductive coil driving the chamber, preventing accumulation of material sputtered from a wafer in this zone, and thus restricting closed paths for eddy current flow along the chamber wall, improving inductive coupling of electrical power to the plasma in the chamber.

  • Patent number: 5560729
Abstract: A tensioning member for a blade screen that permits simultaneous tensioning of a plurality of blades in a blade screen, such as for wood chip sorting. The blades may be provided with a sawtooth detail on a bottom edge to reduce the build-up of wood ribbons or fines that would otherwise occur. An elastomeric joint is also provided which allows a dual-frame blade screen to be assembled, while compensating for any phase angle error between eccentric shafts provided to agitate the wood chips by moving the screens.

  • Patent number: 5551039
Abstract: A software compiler having a code generator and a scheduler. The code generator transforms a lowered intermediate representation (IR) of a source computer program, written in a known computer language, to an assembly language program written in a non-standard instruction set. In particular, the code generator translates vector instructions in the lowered IR to vector instructions from the non-standard instruction set. The vector instructions from the non-standard instruction set are defined such that assembly language programs written with them do not suffer from the effects of pipeline delays. Therefore, according to the present invention, the code generator eliminates the effects of pipeline delays when transforming the lowered IR to the assembly language program. Since the code generator eliminates the effects of pipeline delay, the scheduler's task is greatly simplified since the scheduler need only maximize the use of the functional units.
