Publication number: 20220409384Abstract: An annular cutting tool and related methods are provided for herein that exhibit improved durability, cutting performance, and/or reduced heat generation for bone graft resections. The annular cutting tool can include an annular body having cutting teeth with a flat, flared distal tip for greater durability. An extended gullet can be disposed between groups of adjacent cutting teeth to improve removal of bone debris away from the cutting teeth more and thus prevent binding during use. The annular cutting body can have a recessed surface portion to reduce the area of direct contact to bone and thus reduce heat generated. The recessed surface portion can also provide an area in which bone debris can accumulate away from the cutting teeth to prevent or reduce binding of the tool during use. The annular cutting body can also include a drill bit for drilling a hole in a resected bone graft.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2022Publication date: December 29, 2022Inventors: Bernice Aboud Gatrell, Rakshak Nemiraj, Alexander D. Jones, Thomas E. Wogoman, Karthik Balasubramanian, Timothy Dolan

Patent number: 11446041Abstract: A bone saw cutting guide block includes a body and a bone saw guide assembly. The body includes a proximal surface and a distal surface. The bone saw guide assembly includes a first guide slot defined by the body. The first guide slot extends through the proximal surface and the distal surface along an insertion and retraction path. The first guide slot may accommodate lateral movement of a bone saw while guiding the bone saw along the insertion and retraction path. The first guide slot includes a first interior surface and a second interior surface. The first interior surface is spaced a first distance transversely away from the insertion and retraction path. The second interior surface is spaced a second distance transversely away from the insertion and retraction path. The first distance is smaller than the second distance.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2018Date of Patent: September 20, 2022Assignee: Cilag GmbH InternationalInventors: Bernice A. Gatrell, Rakshak Nemiraj, Alexander D. Jones

Publication number: 20200139621Abstract: A three-dimensionally printed capsule includes a sintered exterior and an unsintered powder, both formed from a first powder supply. The sintered exterior defines an interior portion that hoses the unsintered powder. The sintered extern includes a base and a removable cap. The removable cap can transition between a fixed position and a detached position. The interior portion is sealed relative to the external environment in the fixed position, while the interior portion is exposed to the external environment in the detached position. The unsintered powder is protected from the external environment when the removable cap is in the fixed position. The unsintered powder is exposed to the external environment when the removeable cap is in the detached position.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2018Publication date: May 7, 2020Inventors: Bernice A. Patent number: 9718569Abstract: A modified atmosphere flow-wrap system and method and components thereof are provided for packaging a food product in a reduced oxygen atmosphere in a continuous or partially-continuous process. In one aspect, the flow-wrap system includes a saturation tunnel for saturating the food products with modified gas to reduce an amount of residual oxygen therein. In another aspect, the flow-wrap system includes a flow-wrapping station with a modified gas lance that extends into film webbing used to form the food product packages to insert modified gas into the film webbing and restrict oxygen from entering the food packages.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2010Date of Patent: August 1, 2017Assignee: Kraft Foods Group Brands LLCInventors: Paul E. Doll, Timothy E. Coulson, Eric J. Frederickson, Alexander D. Jones, Robert C. Jones

Patent number: 8993080Abstract: A packaging system has a peelable seal section which includes a first sealing layer and a second sealing layer such that the first sealing layer contacts the second sealing layer to form a peelable seal. The first sealing layer includes thermoplastic polymer or a blend of thermoplastic polymers, an organoclay dispersed within the thermoplastic polymer, and an additional inorganic additive component, such as calcium carbonate, dispersed within the thermoplastic polymer. The peelable seal has achieved synergistic effect and offers high thermal conductivity, great caulkability and is consistent over a broad range of sealing temperatures without loss of desired peelable seal functionality as the seals age.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 2011Date of Patent: March 31, 2015Assignee: Intercontinental Great Brands LLCInventors: Ying Liang, Panagiotis Kinigakis, Yunwa Wilson Cheung, Alexander D. Jones, Francis J. Rossi
