Publication number: 20110022113Abstract: Methods and systems for programming a plurality of leads under at least two distinct modalities are provided. The leads may be grouped within satellites and multiple satellites may be configured within a single lead. Each lead includes a power and communications bus providing commands, and information and pulses to the satellites. The leads may be connected to at least two different command and pulse sources, optionally a cardiac pacemaker and/or a cardiac pulse analyzer system. A command may include or be preceded by a wake-up pulse that facilitates identification of a modality applicable to the associated command and data. A command may further optionally include a reference pulse or series of reference pulses, whereby the satellite references data pulses in relation to one or more aspects of the associated reference pulse. A data pulse may deliver two bits of information.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2009Publication date: January 27, 2011Inventors: Mark Zdeblick, Lawrence Arne, Nilay Jani, Haifeng Li, Jonathan Withrington, Benedict J. Patent number: 6243657Abstract: A pipeline inspection and defect mapping system includes a pig having an inertial measurement unit and a pipeline inspection unit for recording pig location and defect detection events, each record time-stamped by a highly precise onboard clock. The system also includes several magloggers at precisely known locations along the pipeline, each containing a fluxgate magnetometer for detecting the passage of the pig along the pipeline and further containing a highly precise clock synchronized with the clock in the pig. The locations of the various magloggers are known in a north/east/down coordinate system through a differential global positioning satellite process. Finally, a postprocessing off-line computer system receives downloaded maglogger, inertial measurement, and odometer data and through the use of several Kalman filters, derives the location of the detected defects in the north/east/down coordinate frame. Consequently, a task of identifying sites for repair activity is much simplified.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1997Date of Patent: June 5, 2001Assignee: PII North America, Inc.Inventors: Alan Tuck, Gary Brayson, Mario B.
