  • Patent number: 9965818
Abstract: Systems and methods for applying Electric Network Frequency (ENF) forensic techniques to determine characteristics associated with an audio and/or video recording such as when and where the recording was made. In one embodiment, a system that determines at least one of a time and a location associated with a recording includes an ENF forensic database, an ENF extraction processing module and a comparison processing module. The ENF forensic database stores powerline data collected from at least one electrical power grid. The ENF extraction processing module extracts ENF content coupled into the recording. The comparison processing module compares the extracted ENF content with powerline data retrieved from the ENF forensic database and outputs information including one or more of a time during which the recording was made and a location where the recording was made based on the comparison with the powerline data.

  • Patent number: 9479373
Abstract: Methods and systems for transmitting and receiving data using audio devices but without being detectable by a human ear are disclosed. For example, a device for transmitting data can include a modulator configured to transform digital data into a modulated signal having a frequency no less than about 20 kHz, and an audio transmitter coupled to an output of the modulator configured to transmit the modulated signal into a sound propagating medium without being detected by a human ear. The methods and systems can be used to perform two-factor authentication for permitting a user to access a remote server or other device.

  • Patent number: 9231924
Abstract: Methods and systems for providing gesture-based security are disclosed. For example, a method for establishing secure communications can include receiving one or more human gestures using a sensor on a first device, quantizing the one or more human gestures so as to create a metric of the one or more human gestures, performing an error correction operation on the metric using error correction information derived from a template of the metric to create a corrected metric, performing a hashing operation on the corrected metric to create a metric hash, and comparing the metric hash to a hash of the template to verify that the one or more human gestures sufficiently conform to the template.
