Patent number: 12234759Abstract: A heat management system for air-cooled engines suitable to power yard care equipment or vehicles. The system may generally comprise an engine, a blower configured to blow ambient cooling air across the engine, and an exhaust system comprising an exhaust header and a muffler. The exhaust header has an inlet end which receives heated exhaust gas from the engine and an outlet end fluidly coupled to the muffler. An air control baffle is configured to redirect a portion of the cooling air from the blower towards the exhaust header and the muffler to enhance cooling the exhaust system. The system may further include an outermost protective shield exposed to equipment operators and an inner heat barrier or shield located between the muffler and protective shield. The system is designed to ameliorate both radiative and convective sources of heat transfer to maintain the protective shield at temperatures below established industry standards.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2024Date of Patent: February 25, 2025Assignee: Discovery Energy, LLCInventors: Robert A. Patent number: 9487117Abstract: A method for producing a cushion element for a vehicle seat, in which a component suitable for forming a three-dimensional separation zone is inserted in a tool, subsequently at least one first foamable mass is introduced into a first space of the tool. On foaming the mass, the component forms a three-dimensional separating element between a first foamed cushion region and a further space within the tool. The component is pressed against a counter-support in the tool during the forming to give a three-dimensional separating element. A suitable tool comprises an upper tool, a lower tool and a counter support for contacting a component taking on a three-dimensional shape. By introducing the three-dimensional mouldable shape into the tool and the subsequent forming thereof to give a three-dimensional separating element, complex formed regions with differing properties, in particular, differing degrees of hardness can be economically generated in a foamed cushion element.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2009Date of Patent: November 8, 2016Assignee: Johnson Controls Technology CompanyInventors: Horst Steinmeier, Alexander Hasler, Dominik Stoll

Patent number: 8882193Abstract: A head rest for a vehicle seat includes: at least one first section that is oriented towards the head of the seat occupant, a second section, and a third section, wherein the second section is arranged essentially between the first and third sections. In the event of an accident, the first section can be displaced in the direction of displacement, due to the effect of a relative displacement of the second section from a working position into a safety position in the direction of the head of the seat occupant. The relative movement of the sections is a rotation about an essentially parallel rotational axis in the direction of displacement. A mounting of the first section in relation to the second section is provided during the relative displacement about the rotational axis. The first section comprises a first bearing surface and the second section comprises a second bearing surface.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2008Date of Patent: November 11, 2014Assignee: Johnson Controls GmbHInventors: Ernst-Otto Fröse, Thomas Dillinger, Alexander Hasler

Patent number: 8814265Abstract: A headrest for a vehicle seat has a first section that is oriented towards the head of a seat occupant, a second section, and a third section. The second section is arranged between the first and third sections. In the event of an accident, the first section may be displaced, due to the relative displacement of the second section, from a working position into a safety position and a comfort position in the direction of the head of the occupant. The relative movement of the sections is a rotation about a rotational axis substantially parallel to the direction of displacement.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2008Date of Patent: August 26, 2014Assignee: Johnson Controls Technology CompanyInventors: Ernst-Otto Froese, Thomas Dillinger, Alexander Hasler

Patent number: 8408644Abstract: A head rest for a vehicle seat has at least one first section of the head rest that is oriented towards the head of the seat occupant, a second section, a third section, and a blocking device in which the second section is arranged essentially between the first and third sections. The first section can be displaced, due to the relative displacement of the second section, from a working position into a safety position and a comfort position. The blocking device blocks or minimizes the displacement of the first section of the head rest. The blocking device is asymmetrical in relation to a central plane of the head rest and can be actuated by an actuation element that is arranged symmetrically in relation to the central plane.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2008Date of Patent: April 2, 2013Assignee: Johnson Controls GmbHInventors: Ernst-Otto Fröse, Thomas Dillinger, Alexander Hasler

Publication number: 20110109131Abstract: The invention relates to a head rest for a vehicle seat in which, in the event of an accident, at least one first section of the head rest that is oriented towards the head of the seat occupant can be displaced, due to the effect of a relative displacement of a second section of the head rest that is arranged essentially between the first section and the third section, from a working position into a safety position and a comfort position of the head of the seat occupant in the direction of displacement. A blocking device for blocking or minimising displacement of a first section of the head rest counter to the direction of displacement is provided. Said blocking device is asymmetrical in relation to a central plane of the head rest, said central plane extending essentially in a vertical or parallel manner in relation to the direction of displacement in the built-in position of the head rest and can be actuated by means an actuation element that is arranged symmetrically in relation to the central plane.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 27, 2008Publication date: May 12, 2011Inventors: Ernst-Otto Fröse, Thomas Dillinger, Alexander Hasler
