  • Patent number: 5227710
Abstract: A multiple speed alternating current motor is disclosed for operation from a source of single phase alternating current power. For high speed operation, first and second windings are supplied with operating power through a multiple position switch. These windings are electrically angularly displaced from one another by 90.degree. on the stator core and are inductively coupled to the rotor of the motor. Maximum starting torque and maximum speed operation of the motor is provided in this condition of operation. When the switch is operated to a low speed position, the impedence of the second winding is increased.

  • Patent number: 4853569
Abstract: A noise suppression circuit is provided for capacitor-start and capacitor-run alternating current motors. To prevent rotor chattering and noise from occurring upon disconnection of power from the motor, separate switches are used to connect alternating current power to the windings and to the capacitor; so that when power is disconnected, the capacitor is prevented from discharging into the motor windings. A power dissipation resistor is connected in parallel with the capacitor to permit the capacitor to discharge.

  • Patent number: 4794288
Abstract: A series resonant capacitor motor is operated from a source of single phase alternating current power, and the start and run windings are wound on the stator electrically angularly displaced from one another by 90.degree.. The run winding is of heavy wire, and it is connected in series with a capacitor having a high capacitance to the source of alternating current power. The start winding is connected in parallel with the series connected run winding and capacitor. During the full load and no load running conditions of operation of the motor, substantially all of the current passes through the run winding and capacitor with little or no current flowing through the start winding. The motor exhibits improved starting torque, and an additional switched starting capacitor can be connected in parallel with the series resonant capacitor to produce high starting torque.

  • Patent number: 4772814
Abstract: An improved electric motor is operated from a single phase alternating current power source and employs a start winding and a run winding connected in series. A capacitor is connected in parallel with the start winding; and the inductance of the start winding and the capacitance of the capacitor are selected to form an LC resonant circuit at the operating frequency, thereby displacing the phase of the alternating current in the motor winding by 90.degree..

  • Patent number: 4734601
Abstract: A noise suppression circuit is provided for an alternating current motor which has a capacitor connected in parallel with one of the windings to form an LC resonant circuit at the operating frequency of the motor. The motor includes first and second windings of substantially the same wire size connected in series on the stator core. The LC resonant circuit formed by the capacitor and the winding across which it is connected improves the efficiency of operation of the motor. To prevent chattering and noise from occuring upon disconnection of power from the windings, separate switches are used for applying alternating current power to the windings and to the capacitor; so that when power is disconnected, the capacitor is isolated from the winding across which it is connected. At the same time, a power dissipation resistor connected in parallel with the capacitor permits it to discharge.

  • Patent number: 4675565
Abstract: An electric current motor is operated from a single phase of alternating current power source, and functions with low surge operation at motor start. The motor includes first and second windings of substantially the same wire size angularly displaced from one another 90.degree. electrical on a stator core and inductively coupled to a rotor. A capacitor is connected in parallel with one of the windings to form an LC resonant circuit at the operating frequency of the motor. A second starting capacitor is connected in series with a switch in parallel with the first capacitor. The switch is normally closed during starting of the motor and is opened during normal load conditions.

  • Patent number: 4642545
Abstract: A three-phase A.C. motor having three stator windings with stator winding power input terminals T1, T2 and T3, is energized from a single-phase A.C. line through a static phase conversion circuit that connects terminals T1 and T2 directly to the single phase line and that includes a main dephasing capacitor connected between terminals T1 and T2; a phase correction capacitor is connected in parallel with a stator winding that is not connected to terminal T3 for materially improved full load performance.

  • Patent number: 4295538
Abstract: A suspension and auxiliary power system for a vehicle having a frame, a power consuming load on said frame, and at least one supporting wheel which is adapted to move vertically relative to the frame. The system includes a fluid pump connected between the frame and the wheel and including a piston which is reciprocated in response to relative movement between the frame and wheel to contract or expand a fluid chamber. A fluid circuit connected to the pump includes a uni-directional fluid motor which drives a power consuming load. The fluid circuit is connected to the fluid chamber of the pump and includes a check valve for permitting fluid to flow only from the chamber directly to the motor. A second check valve in the circuit regulates flow so that fluid is directed only from a source of fluid to the chamber. The fluid pump acts as a hydraulic suspension system supporting at least a part of the vehicle weight whereby loading of the motor causes the motor to serve as a shock absorber for the pump.
