  • Publication number: 20240428388
Abstract: A method and apparatus for evaluating soybean quality are disclosed. Automated or semi-automated image processing can be implemented with commercially available machine vision hardware. Post-harvest soybeans are separated, imaged, and analyzed to assess grain quality factors used in official grading. The system may be used prior to sale, purchase, further harvesting, or planting subsequent crops. The system reduces inspection errors, reduces variance in results, increases efficiency, enhances repeatability, and improves the standardization of soybean quality evaluation. Shape analysis, color analysis, and Haralick texture analysis are employed to determine when certain types of damage are present, to distinguish between types of damage, and to classify grains as smooth, cracked, or wrinkled. The system is sufficiently robust to allow successful deployment in rural, remote, and non-standard environments.

  • Publication number: 20240249635
Abstract: iFormative Feedback (iFF) is an electronic formative feedback acquisition and analytics system which leverages mobile technology, QR codes, and web-based dashboards to provide users with meaningful, real-time, 360-degree assessments of performance. iFF is designed to record the spirit of a user's observations without increasing the administrative burden of data entry, security, collation, interpretation, and dissemination. Through iFF, organizations can efficiently track individual performance through downstream (supervisor to supervisee) and upstream (supervisee to supervisor) analyses of standardized observations recorded in the system.

  • Publication number: 20210103348
Abstract: This document describes techniques that enable facilitating user-proficiency in using radar gestures to interact with an electronic device. Using the described techniques, an electronic device can employ a radar system to detect and determine radar-based touch-independent gestures (radar gestures) that are made by the user to interact with the electronic device and applications running on the electronic device. For the radar gestures to be used to control or interact with the electronic device, the user must properly perform the radar gestures. The described techniques therefore also provide a tutorial or game environment that allows the user to learn and practice radar gestures in a natural way. The tutorial or game environments also provide visual feedback elements that give the user feedback when radar gestures are properly made and when the radar gestures are not properly made, which makes the learning and practicing a pleasant and enjoyable experience for the user.

  • Patent number: 10105299
Abstract: A method for forming a coated particle having a core particle that is fully coated by a dual-layer coating that includes an inner layer formed of a hydrophilic composition and an outer layer formed of a hydrophobic polymer. The core particles are added to a hydrophilic solution and mixed together. The hydrophobic polymer is then added to form a mixture. The mixture is sonicated to coat the particles and the coated particles are separated and dried to form meta-stable coated particles.

  • Patent number: 8578875
Abstract: A scorekeeping device is disclosed for use with a sports court that has a net in order to keep score in a match between players. The scorekeeping device comprises three elongated members, each mutually connected at top ends thereof with a pivot to define a center member and two outer members. A score indicia is fixed to both sides of the center member. The score indicia may indicate the numbers 1 through 7, representing games in a set of tennis, for example. A pair of contrasting score indicators, such as differently-colored spring-biased clips, are selectively fixable with the center member. Preferably, in an extended position the height of the device is three feet, such that the device may be used to adjust or otherwise measure the height of a tennis net, for example.
