  • Publication number: 20050106103
Abstract: An acoustic emission system for objectively measuring tactile skin attributes and methods of using same. The system includes: (A) Means for generating an acoustic emission signal from skin; (B) Means for collecting, storing and displaying said emission signal; (C) means for correlating said emission signal with an attribute of said skin; wherein said system is used as a clinical tool to evaluate efficacy of cosmetic skin care and/or cleansing products. A cosmetic product selection system is also provided which includes a cosmetic composition for reducing the appearance of undesirable skin attributes and an acoustic emission system associated with the composition. A method for assessing tactile skin attributes using an acoustic emission system, as well as of evaluating progress of the combat against the signs of undesirable skin attributes occurring over a period of time within which the composition is applied to an area of skin being monitored is provided.

  • Publication number: 20050048025
Abstract: A combination of a non-ionic tri-block poly-propylene-oxide, poly-ethylene-oxide alcohol ether surfactant coupled with block polymer poly(Butadiene-b-Ethylene Oxide) is an excellent surfactant phase to micro-emulsify sebum on contact. A method of micro-emulsification of sebum on contact with inventive compositions according to the present invention will form micro-emulsions which can enhance (1) deep pore cleansing of skin and (2) delivery of skin benefit actives into the skin.

  • Publication number: 20040185070
Abstract: A cosmetic composition is provided which includes a high level of glycerin, a copolymer which is preferably a C10-C18 acrylates crosspolymer, and a crystalline gel structurant comprising a surfactant and co-surfactant, the structurant having an enthalpy ranging from about 2 to about 15 Joule per gram, wherein the composition has a normal force of from about +5 to about +50 grams thereby achieving a silky sensory feel on skin, the glycerin to copolymer being present in a weight ratio ranging from about 350:1 to about 10:1. Advantageously, the composition has a SkiCon Value ranging from about 10 to about 80.

  • Patent number: 4417995
Abstract: A fabric conditioning composition comprises a fabric conditioning agent including a cationic fabric softening material, together with an inorganic material capable of precipitating a metal hydroxide or hydrated oxide at a pH of about 7.5 of less in water. The latter material is preferably aluminum chlorhydrate. A typical composition contains about 4% quaternary ammonium cationic fabric softener and from 0.5% to 1.5% aluminum chlorhydrate.
