Abstract: An improved process for the di-substitution of cyanamide is disclosed which comprises reacting a compound having the formulaR.sup.1 Xin which R.sup.1 is a member selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkynyl, C.sub.7 -C.sub.10 phenylalkyl, and C.sub.7 -C.sub.10 halophenylalkyl, and X is halogen, with cyanamide in the presence of an aqueous solution of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal hydroxide and a catalytic amount of a catalyst having the formula(R.sup.2 R.sup.3 R.sup.4 R.sup.5 M).sup.+ Y.sup.-in which R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, and R.sup.5 are independently C.sub.1 -C.sub.25 alkyl, M is selected from the group consisting of nitrogen, phosphorus, and arsenic, and Y is halogen.

Abstract: Compounds having the formula ##STR1## in which one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 alkynoxy or C.sub.3 alkenoxy and the other is hydrogen or methoxy. The compounds have utility as insect control agents, either as insecticides or anti-juvenile hormones.

Abstract: S-tricyclohexyltin-O,O-diisopropyl dithiophosphate, a useful miticide, is produced by reaction of tricyclohexyltin chloride with diisopropyl dithiophosphoric acid and a base selected from the group consisting of alkali metal hydroxides and ammonium hydroxide in a two-phase aqueous-organic system. The reaction may be conducted with or without the use of a solvent. In the case of strong alkali metal hydroxides such as sodium hydroxide the reaction is preferably conducted at a pH of about 7 or less.

Abstract: N-carbamoyl ethyl oxanilates having the formula ##STR1## wherein X and Y are independently selected from the group consisting of chloro, bromo and trifluoromethyl; n is either zero or one; and R and R.sub.1 are independently selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl and lower alkoxy from C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 inclusive, or R and R.sub.1 taken together is selected from the group consisting of ##STR2## are prepared by a process comprising reacting a urea having the formula ##STR3## with ethyl oxalyl halide in a single step in an inert solvent.

Abstract: New compounds corresponding to the generic formula: ##STR1## wherein X can be selected from oxygen and sulfur, R and R.sub.1 can be the same or different and can be selected from lower alkyl and lower alkoxy, R.sub.2 can be selected from lower alkyl, lower alkoxy and lower thioalkyl. The compounds are useful fungicides and biocides.

Abstract: N,N-diethyl 2(.alpha.-naphthoxy)propionamide, ##STR1## a useful herbicide, is produced by reaction of .alpha.-naphthol with an excess of N,N-diethyl-.alpha.-chloropropionamide or -bromopropionamide in the presence of an excess of alkali metal hydroxide. Unreacted amide is removed by vacuum stripping. The haloamide reactant is preferably formed by reaction of .alpha.-chloropropionic or .alpha.-bromopropionic acid with diethylamine in the presence of phosphoryl chloride.

Abstract: Novel substituted benzoic acid and dibenzoic-acid-2-butyn-1-yl esters are disclosed. The compounds are useful as miticides.
