  • Publication number: 20080173793
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system that provides a holographic layer as a micro-lens array and/or a color filter array in an imager. The method of writing the holographic layer results in overlapping areas in the hologram for corresponding adjacent pixels in the imager which increases collection of light at the pixels, thereby increasing quantum efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20080137985
Abstract: A method of column shading correction comprising measuring pixel response values in a pixel array, calculating column shading correction coefficients for each column in a pixel array based on the steps of calculating a column noise correction coefficient value using dark rows and averaging a plurality of the column noise correction coefficients to produce a column shading correction coefficient for each column, adjusting the pixel response values based on the column shading correction coefficients, and applying column shading correction to the pixel array.

  • Publication number: 20080074522
Abstract: Surface generation and positional gain adjustment techniques for an imager are described. Embodiments of the techniques use zones having flexible boundaries which can be reconfigured depending upon the type of lens being used in a given application. Each pixel within each zone is multiplied by a correction factor dependent upon the particular zone while the pixel is being read out from the array. The correction factors comprise coefficients that are different for each color channel and in some instances different for each corner of each color channel.
    Type: Application
    Filed: September 1, 2006
    Publication date: March 27, 2008
Inventors: Gregory Michael Hunter, Robert H. Mullis, William R. Dirks, Dmitri Jerdev, Alexander Mokhnatyuk, Ilia Ovsiannikov
