  • Patent number: 9418020
Abstract: Interaction is evaluated between a computer system cache and at least one entity that submits a stream of references corresponding to location identifiers of data storage locations. The reference stream is spatially sampled by comparing a hash value of each reference with a threshold value and selecting only those references whose hash value meets a selection criterion. Cache utility values are then compiled for those references. In some embodiments, the compiled cache values may then be corrected for accuracy as a function of statistics of those location identifiers over the entire stream of references and of the sampled references whose hash values satisfied the selection criterion. Alternatively, a plurality of caching configurations is selected and the selected references are applied as inputs to a plurality of caching simulations, each corresponding to a different caching configuration. A resulting set of cache utility values is then computed for each caching simulation.

  • Patent number: 9419563
Abstract: A two-stage RF amplifier is provided. The first stage is a common-emitter transistor arrangement with a purely reactive degeneration impedance and an output impedance with a reactive component matched in frequency response to the degeneration impedance. The second stage is a buffer amplifier. The first amplifier can be designed for high gain which is flat over frequency by virtue of the reactive degeneration impedance. The first amplifier provides input matching, and the buffer provides output matching, with decoupling between the input and output.

  • Patent number: 9417883
Abstract: System and method for decoding digital video data. The decoding system employs hardware accelerators that assist a core processor in performing selected decoding tasks. The hardware accelerators are configurable to support a plurality of existing and future encoding/decoding formats. The accelerators are configurable to support substantially any existing or future encoding/decoding formats that fall into the general class of DCT-based, entropy decoded, block-motion-compensated compression algorithms. The hardware accelerators illustratively comprise a programmable entropy decoder, an inverse quantization module, a inverse discrete cosine transform module, a pixel filter, a motion compensation module and a de-blocking filter. The hardware accelerators function in a decoding pipeline wherein at any given stage in the pipeline, while a given function is being performed on a given macroblock, the next macroblock in the data stream is being worked on by the previous function in the pipeline.

  • Patent number: 9420498
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for supporting dynamic and distributed mobility management (DMM). A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may attach to a first distributed gateway (D-GW), and configure a first Internet protocol (IP) address based on a prefix locally provided by the first D-GW. The WTRU may move and attach to a second D-GW while carrying out an on-going communication session with a correspondent node (CN). The WTRU may configure a second IP address based on a prefix provided by the second D-GW. The WTRU may use the first IP address for carrying out the on-going session and use the second IP address for a new communication session.

  • Patent number: 9420053
Abstract: The canonicalization of input messages having application specific data into a canonical message format, regardless of whether those native messages are well-formed. When a message is accessed, as long as the message is processable, the message is canonicalized. If the native message is well-formed, then a canonical message is generated that includes the application specific data in a schema understood by the application. On the other hand, if the native message is not well-formed, the canonical message is generated in a manner that the canonical message may be used to access the raw bits of the message, and that includes sufficient information for some downstream processing to determine that the message was not well-formed. That downstream processing may optionally then perform compensatory actions to regain access to the application specific data, and may potentially use information from the canonicalized message to do so.

  • Patent number: 9420372
Abstract: Spherical microphone arrays capture a three-dimensional sound field (P(?c,t) for generating an Ambisonics representation (Anm(t)), where the pressure distribution on the surface of the sphere is sampled by the capsules of the array. The impact of the microphones on the captured sound field is removed using the inverse microphone transfer function. The equalization of the transfer function of the microphone array is a big problem because the reciprocal of the transfer function causes high gains for small values in the transfer function and these small values are affected by transducer noise.

  • Patent number: 9418138
Abstract: Various embodiments of a method and system for determining sets of variant items are described. Various embodiments may include a system configured to generate multiple item pairs each corresponding to a particular item and another item determined to be similar to the particular item. For the particular item and the other item, each item pair may include a respective sequence of text strings (e.g., a title). For each item pair, the system may perform a corresponding text alignment and determine one or more misalignments of the item pair. The system may also assign a similarity score to each item pair; the similarity score may be dependent on the misalignment(s) determined for the particular item pair. Based on each aligned item pair and the similarity score assigned to that aligned item pair, the system may generate an indication specifying that each of a set of items are variants of each other.

  • Patent number: 9420005
Abstract: Systems and methods for installing policy settings on a client computing device are provided. In some aspects, the client computing device receives policy data and a public key from a server. The policy data are authenticated based on the public key. Policy settings based on the authenticated policy data are installed on the client computing device. Installing the policy settings based on the authenticated policy data on the client computing device includes storing information based on the policy data in a module on the client computing device. The module is secured by the public key from the server and a signature generated on the client computing device to prevent the stored information from being moved or copied by a user of the client computing device.

  • Publication number: 20160233881
Abstract: A compression algorithm based on Huffman coding is disclosed that is adapted to be readily implemented using VLSI design. A data file may be processed to replace duplicate data with a copy commands including an offset and length, such as according to the LV algorithm. A Huffman code may then be generated for parts of the file. The Huffman code may be generated according to a novel method that generates Huffman code lengths for literals in a data file without first sorting the literal statistics. The Huffman code lengths may be constrained to be no longer than a maximum length and the Huffman code may be modified to provide an acceptable overflow probability and be in canonical order. Literals, offsets, and lengths may be separately encoded. The different values for these data sets may be assigned to a limited number of bins for purpose of generating usage statistics used for generating Huffman codes.

  • Publication number: 20160232684
Abstract: In one embodiment, an image processor is configured to obtain a plurality of phase images for each of first and second depth frames. For each of a plurality of pixels of a given one of the phase images of the first depth frame, the image processor determines an amount of movement of a point of an imaged scene between the pixel of the given phase image and a pixel of a corresponding phase image of the second depth frame, and adjusts pixel values of respective other phase images of the first depth frame based on the determined amount of movement. A motion compensated first depth image is generated utilizing the given phase image and the adjusted other phase images of the first depth frame. Movement of a point of the imaged scene is determined, for example, between pixels of respective n-th phase images of the first and second depth frames.

  • Publication number: 20160234094
Abstract: An improved method and system for processing network metadata is described. Network metadata may be processed by dynamically instantiated executable software modules which make policy-based decisions about the character of the network metadata and about presentation of the network metadata to consumers of the information carried by the network metadata. The network metadata may be type classified and each subclass within a type may be mapped to a definition by a unique fingerprint value. The fingerprint value may be used for matching the network metadata subclasses against relevant policies and transformation rules. For template-based network metadata such as NetFlow v9, an embodiment of the invention can constantly monitor network traffic for unknown templates, capture template definitions, and informs administrators about templates for which custom policies and conversion rules do not exist.
