  • Publication number: 20230138410
Abstract: Technologies for generating user activity features for machine learning models on demand are described. In some embodiments, the technologies receive a request for a user activity feature and a request timestamp from a machine learning model. The technologies determine a data access mechanism, a time window determined based on the request timestamp, and a feature computation algorithm. Using the data access mechanism, the technologies retrieve, from a real-time data store, event data for events having timestamps within the time window, and attribute data associated with the event data. The technologies compute a user activity feature using the retrieved event data and the retrieved attribute data as inputs to the feature computation algorithm, and provide the computed user activity feature to the machine learning model in response to the request for the activity feature.

  • Publication number: 20160350876
Abstract: A machine may be configured to schedule the generation of content for members of a social networking service. For example, the machine identifies one or more members of a social networking service who are associated with an optimal delivery time that identifies a time that is optimal for transmitting an item of digital content to the one or more members. The machine schedules an execution of a job for generation of the item of digital content. The execution of the job is performed at a content generation time that is prior to the optimal delivery time. The machine executes the job at the content generation time. The executing generates the item of digital content. The machine transmits one or more communications including the item of digital content to one or more devices associated with the one or more members, at the optimal delivery time.

  • Publication number: 20160343009
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing push notifications of social network content items include determining first and second engagement values for first and second content items, respectively, provided by first and second content item sources, respectively, based on previous interactions with content items. First and second utility values are determined for the first and second content items, respectively, based on a mathematical operation applied to the first and second engagement values, respectively, the first and second selection metrics, respectively, and, for the first utility value, the value metric. One of the first and second content items are determined as a push content item based on a difference between the first and second utility values and displayed on a user device.

  • Publication number: 20150277980
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to a system that uses a predictive-optimization technique to facilitate distributed computation in a multi-tenant system. During operation, the system receives a job to be executed, wherein the job performs a MapReduce computation. Next, the system uses the predictive-optimization technique to determine resource-allocation parameters for the job based on associated input parameters to optimize an execution performance of the job, wherein the predictive-optimization technique uses a model that was trained running previous MapReduce jobs on the multi-tenant system. Then, the system uses the resource-allocation parameters to allocate resources for the job from the multi-tenant system. Finally, the system executes the job using the allocated resources.

  • Patent number: 8432413
Abstract: A novel and useful system and method for the serving and display of extended bit depth (EBD) high resolution images on a web browser using multimedia platform code or code for a graphics framework. To display an EBD image, such as an x-ray or MRI image set, on a web browser, the image data is mapped into a plurality of channels of pixels of a color image which a web browser is able to handle, where each channel holds a portion of the full dynamic range of the original EBD image. At the client, a color transform is applied to the color image data which takes into account the user's desired VOI settings. The resulting display image has the exact values as if the VOI was applied to the original EBD image and is dynamically mapped to the display capabilities of the client viewing framework thus enabling a reviewer to detect any available details of the image.

  • Publication number: 20080065441
Abstract: A bi-directional systematic referral fee share system provides financial incentives when a candidate is engaged by a hiring company. When the candidate is engaged, the financial incentives are provided to members of a candidate referral fee pool and to members of a hiring manager referral fee pool. The members of the candidate referral fee pool include a first member of the system if the first member invited the candidate, a second member if the second member invited the first member, and a third member if the third member invited the second member. The members of the hiring manager referral fee pool include a fourth member if the fourth member invited the hiring manager, a fifth member if the fifth member invited the fourth member, and a sixth member if the sixth member invited the fifth member. In some instances, only qualified members of the candidate referral fee pool and/or only qualified members of the hiring manager referral fee pool are provided the financial incentive.

  • Patent number: 6687878
Abstract: A system for collaborative document annotation whereby notes (i.e. annotations) associated with a document, such as an image or text document, are stored in a notes database on a central notes server. The documents and associated annotations are treated independently from each other whereby separate data structures are created for the documents and for the associated annotations. A web server application on the server side functions to capture requests from one or more note client applications for creating, storing, editing and retrieving annotations related to specific documents stored on the notes server. On the client side, the notes client functions to display the document that the user wishes to annotate and provides the tools necessary to permit the user to create, edit, delete, retrieve and store notes. A synchronization process transmits the annotations generated by the user from the notes client to the notes server.

  • Patent number: 6314452
Abstract: The imaging system that is described below is an image streaming system which is different from traditional compression systems. It eliminates the necessity to store a compressed version of the original image, by streaming ROI data using the original stored image. The imaging system of the present invention also avoids the computationally intensive task of compression of the full image. Instead, once a user wishes to interact with a remote image, the imaging server performs a fast preprocessing step in near real time after which it can respond to any ROI requests also in near real time. When a ROI request arrives at the server, a sophisticated progressive image encoding algorithm is performed, but not for the full image. Instead, the encoding algorithm is performed only for the ROI.
