  • Patent number: 5376217
Abstract: Apparatus for labelling file folders and other artifacts which includes one or more work stations, the number of work stations typically matching the number of labels that are to be applied. Work stations may have: (1) fixedly positioned label rolls, or (2) label rolls which can be shifted back and forth so that labels from different rolls can be applied at a given file folder location, or (3) a mixture of these two types of label roll supports. The apparatus can be computer controlled, which makes custom labelling practical. Also disclosed are methods for labelling artifacts which employ labelling apparatus of the character just described.

  • Patent number: 5044265
Abstract: Accessories for making conventional cooking utensils usable with disposable bags to produce cooked comestibles of superior quality and to eliminate the cleaning up appurtenant to conventional cooking techniques. A trivet at the lower end of the accessory supports the bottom of the bag above the bottom of the cooking utensil or vessel in which the trivet is installed. That keeps the bag from sticking to the bottom of the utensil; it also promotes the speed and uniformity with which the comestibles in the bag are cooked.

  • Patent number: 4873919
Abstract: Systems for cooking comestibles in a disposable bag to preserve the taste, texture, and nutritional value of the comestibles; to keep the cooking vessel in which the system is employed from being soiled; and to facilitate the storage of leftovers. The accessory has a base and inwardly extending bag-supporting elements pivotably fixed to that base at intervals therearound. The inner ends of these elements are fixed to the upper, open end of the bag at intervals therearound; and the upper end of the bag can consequently be opened and closed by rotating the bag-supporting elements. Witness marks around the upper edge of the bag allow the bag-supporting elements to easily be attached to the upper edge of the bag at equidistant intervals therearound, ensuring that the bag can be fully opened by manipulation of the bag-supporting elements.

  • Patent number: 4864753
Abstract: Visible index systems which include a support and hanger wires for detachably affixing cards and pocket cards to the support in an overlapping arrangement. The arrangement for fixing the hanger wires to the support is so constructed that each card or pocket card is independently supported, and lateral movement of the hanger wires is precluded as is lateral movement of the cards along those wires.

  • Patent number: 4769935
Abstract: A wire hanger for removably affixing the pocket card of a visible index system to a card-supporting frame, tray, or other holder. The hanger has a rectilinear main body portion and integral loops at the opposite ends of that portion. Each loop has two sides paralleling the main body portion of the hanger and an integral return bend between those sides at that end of the loop opposite the main body portion of the hanger. One side of the loop has a pocket card hinge-receiving extension spaced from and paralleling the main body portion of the hanger, and the two sides of the loop are symmetrically disposed relative to the axial centerline of the loop's main body portion. The foregoing construction substantially eliminates the possibility of the pocket card hanger being improperly affixed to the pocket card supporting structure in a manner which would result in the lower part of the pocket card being obscured or exposed to an unwanted extent.

  • Patent number: 4620383
Abstract: Pocket card type visible index systems in which the pocket cards are protected against tearing at points of stress. This may be accomplished by bonding a reinforcing material to the card holding member of the pocket card, or, alternatively, by making that member of a laminated material. An additional feature includes protecting against tearing by providing round or radius corners at the ends of the card retaining apertures formed in the member.

  • Patent number: 4607443
Abstract: Visible index systems having hinged pockets to which cards or other information bearing components can be detachably affixed. A novel tip fixed to the main body of the pocket forms recesses into which information bearing components can be inserted to hold them against the faces of the main pocket component.

  • Patent number: 4603454
Abstract: Apparatus for forming hinges from strip stock and for applying the hinges to cards and pockets. Hinge blanks including a pair of hinge legs are stamped from the strip stock and the barrel of the hinge partly formed at a first station. The blank then moves laterally to a second station where the legs are bent at a right angle to the hinge body and the barrel further shaped. Thereafter, the hinge continues in the same lateral path to a third station. Here, the formation of the barrel is completed; the hinge legs are driven through a pocket or card theretofore brought to the station; and the hinge legs are then bent over and against the pocket or card to secure the hinge to it.

  • Patent number: 4499817
Abstract: Disposable bags in which comestibles can be cooked and subsequently stored, if desired. Provision is preferably made for so attaching the bag to a cooperating utensil or accessory as to facilitate access to the contents of the bag and promote rapid and uniform cooking of the comestibles.

  • Patent number: 4499132
Abstract: A visible index and components therefor including index strip supports of simplified and rugged construction and several forms of replaceable strips which may or may not be preprinted and which can, at least in most cases, be produced at a lower cost than previously patented index strips. The index strips are of multi-ply construction. Assemblages of the index strips and backing members from which the strips can be easily and cleanly separated. The assemblages may be designed to facilitate the mechanical printing of wanted information on the index strips before they are separated.
