  • Patent number: 8278459
Abstract: The present invention provides novel diol compounds, novel cosmetic or dermatological sunscreen compositions containing these compounds and the use of the novel compounds as UV-filters. The compounds are particularly advantageous, because they adhere to the skin and therefore provide sunscreen protection for a prolonged period of time.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 28, 2008
Date of Patent: October 2, 2012
    Assignee: DSM IP Assets B.V.
Inventors: Jürgen H. Vollhardt, Yevgen Blyumin, Alexander Poschalko
  • Patent number: 7988953
Abstract: The invention provides a conjugate comprising a hyperbranched polymer covalently bonded to at least three UV absorbing chromophores having an UV absorption maximum ?max?270 nm. The conjugate is an effective and safe sunscreen which can advantageously be used in cosmetic compositions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 23, 2005
Date of Patent: August 2, 2011
    Assignee: DSM IP Assets B.V.
Inventors: Alexander Poschalko, Ulrich Huber, Volker Schehlmann
  • Patent number: 7906108
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel sunscreens on the basis of polysiloxanes, to their preparation and to their use, especially in formulations for the protection against harmful effects of sunlight.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 23, 2006
Date of Patent: March 15, 2011
    Assignee: DSM IP Assets B.V.
Inventors: Katja Berg-Schultz, Alexander Poschalko, Jürgen H. Vollhardt
  • Patent number: 7674839
Abstract: The invention relates to methods for the production of polymer carrier materials for solid phase synthesis, particularly for peptide synthesis. (Meth)acrylamide derivatives based on carbon hydrates, which can also contain other protective groups, are polymerized by means of suspension polymerization in an aqueous phase, optionally with the addition of pore-forming additives, and subsequently the protective groups are fully or partially cleaved. It is thus possible to obtain polymer carriers whose morphology (particle size, porosity), degree of cross-linking and swelling capability in aqueous and organic media can be adjusted in a targeted manner and whose reactive groups offer multiple opportunities for the immobilization of anchor groups and protective groups. The hydroxyl groups of the polymer carrier can be activated according to usual methods of solid phase synthesis.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 9, 2010
    Assignee: Technische Universitat
Inventors: Thomas Verdianz, Heinrich Gruber, Simone Knaus, Alexander Poschalko

  • Publication number: 20080199526
Abstract: The present invention provides a topical composition comprising a first sunscreen agent which is encapsulated and a second sunscreen agent which is different from the first sunscreen agent, characterized in that the first sunscreen agent is encapsulated in microcapsules having an average particle size D(v, 0.5) from 3 ?m to 8 ?m. The encapsulated sunscreen agent is preferably a cinnamic ester derivative.

  • Publication number: 20080031909
Abstract: Cosmetic materials, e.g., sunscreen agents are encapsulated by means of a compound of the formula (I) where X is O or NR5; EWG is an electron-withdrawing group; R1, R2, R3, R5 are equal to an H, alykl, cycloalkyl, aryl, or heterocyclic group; or R1, R2 and R5 or R1, R2 and R3 together form a heterocyclic group; and wherein at least one NH or NH2 group, attached to an electron-attracting atom or to an atom that is connected to electron-attracting atom or group such as oxygen, nitrogen and sulphur, is present.
