Patent number: 10582009Abstract: A method for hosting a cloud-based broadband push-to-talk (PTT) configuration application includes detecting a user action taken at a remote client device providing an interface to the configuration application including an activation of an add group graphical object for adding a new group to an existing broadband PTT radio system, and further includes entrance of a unique identifier for the new group and entrance of whether the new group is a broadband-only group or a converged broadband and land-mobile-radio (LMR) group. A voice service stack associated with the broadband PTT radio system is updated to include the new group and existing other broadband mobile radios are updated via a voice service stack to reflect the added new group. Where the type of the new group is a converged broadband and LMR group, an LMR interface stack of the LMR radio system is updated to reflect the newly added group.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 2017Date of Patent: March 3, 2020Assignee: MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS, INC.Inventors: Eric Brown, Alexander R. Patent number: 10447842Abstract: A method and device for performing push-to-talk and text communications. The device includes a display and an electronic processor communicatively coupled to the display. The electronic processor is configured to generate a graphical user interface, generate, on the display, a first push-to-talk button having a first dimension and located proximate to a conversation thread window including a historical view portion and a new-entry portion, and receive, on the display, a first user input selecting the new-entry portion. The electronic processor is further configured to generate on the display, in response to receiving the first user input, a text-entry portion, replace, in response to receiving the first user input, the first push-to-talk button with a second push-to-talk button at a same or different first location, receive, via the display, a second user input selecting the text-entry portion, and alter, in response to the second user input, the second push-to-talk button.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2018Date of Patent: October 15, 2019Assignee: MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS, INC.Inventors: Veerapriya Veerasubramanian, Alexander R. Patent number: 9927248Abstract: A system and method for providing navigational routing. The method includes determining, at a controller, a first route from a first location to a second location, the determination of the first route using a first set of routing rules. The method also includes determining, at the controller, a second route from the first location to the second location, the determination of the second route using a second set of routing rules applicable to public safety vehicles, the second set of routing rules different from the first set of routing rules. The method further includes the steps of accessing, at the controller, route information related to the second route; identifying, at the controller, a preferred route based on the first travel duration, the second travel duration, and the route information; and outputting the identified preferred route.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2016Date of Patent: March 27, 2018Assignee: MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS, INC.Inventors: Alexander R. Patent number: 9791896Abstract: A device and method performs a predefined functionality. The method includes generating a first view including selectable elements corresponding to a predefined functionality with first position data and first orientation data shown on a display device. The method includes determining a movement of the display device relative to a user. The method includes generating a second view including at least one of the selectable elements with second position data and second orientation data based on the first image data and the movement data, the second position and orientation data being the same as the first position and orientation data, respectively, relative to the user. The method includes selecting one of the at least one of the selectable elements of the second view as a function of the second position data and the second orientation data and executing the predefined functionality corresponding to the selected one of the selectable elements.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 2012Date of Patent: October 17, 2017Assignee: Symbol Technologies, LLCInventors: Richard M. Martin, Jaeho Choi, Ian R. Jenkins, Adam J. Karnas, Shane E. MacGregor, Alexander R. Spiro, Konstantinos D. Tsiopanos

Patent number: 9785331Abstract: A technique for controlling a touch screen device to select an element from a first list using a second list of numbers assigned to each element in the first list. When displayed next to each other, the first and second lists have different respective spacings between their elements. The spacing used in the second list is scaled so all the numbers therein can fit on the display. In operation, the display is touched at an initial touch point. Dragging the finger up the display will pull up the second list at the touch point, while simultaneously pulling up the first list next to it. However, since the spacing is different for each list, the first list can scroll faster and farther than the second list. The entire second list can fit on the display, but the first list scrolls beyond the display limits. The element corresponding to the number under the touch point is highlighted.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2014Date of Patent: October 10, 2017Assignee: Symbol Technologies, LLCInventors: Trupti Telang, Alexander R Spiro
