  • Publication number: 20240026199
Abstract: A gas pressure spring is provided including an expanding wax as a compensating medium for reducing a temperature dependency of a spring force of the gas pressure spring in an operating temperature range of the gas pressure spring spanning a minimum temperature of ?40° C. to +10° C. up to a maximum temperature of +40° C. to +100° C. The expanding wax includes at least one liquid phase and at least one solid phase in the entire operating temperature range, the expanding wax comprising a number of primary alcohols. Also provided is a drive system for a flap including a gas pressure spring for supporting the flap, and an electromechanical drive for driving the flap.

  • Publication number: 20230258239
Abstract: A gas pressure spring is provided including a pressure tube and a fluid with a fluid pressure enclosed by the pressure tube in a fluid-tight manner in an operating state of the gas pressure spring. A wall of the pressure tube has a local taper, the taper forming a predetermined breaking point of the wall adapted to open to release a portion of the fluid from the pressure tube in a controlled manner when the fluid pressure exceeds a limit pressure. A wall thickness of the wall has a line-shaped minimum within the taper, the wall thickness increasing monotonically from the minimum to an edge of the taper in all circumferential directions around a longitudinal axis of the pressure tube. Also provided is a method of manufacturing the gas pressure spring.

  • Publication number: 20230193975
Abstract: A gas pressure spring is provided including a working cylinder which, together with a slidably mounted compensating piston, encloses a working chamber filled with a working medium. A slidably mounted working piston is fastened to a working rod. In the event of a temperature increase, a compensating medium in a compensating chamber expands. The compensating piston is acted upon by the pressure of the working medium and the pressure of the compensating medium) such that the volume of the working chamber is increased. The temperature dependency of the gas spring force should be reduced by a design which is as simple as possible. For this purpose, the compensating chamber is at least partially surrounded by the working rod. Thus, the compensating medium can be compactly accommodated, and the assembly of the gas spring is simplified.

  • Patent number: 11655876
Abstract: Provided is a gas strut, including: an outer working space arranged radially to the stroke axis between the working cylinder and the equalizing cylinder, the outer working space being connected to the inner working space in a gas-conducting manner; an equalizing piston enclosing the working cylinder radially to the stroke axis, the equalizing piston) being mounted displaceably along the stroke axis, delimiting the outer working space on one side transversely to the stroke axis and being subjected to a pressure of the working medium and a pressure of the equalizing medium so as to increase the volume of the outer working space; and a restoring medium arranged in a restoring space radially to the stroke axis between the working cylinder and the equalizing cylinder, the equalizing piston being subjected to a pressure of the restoring medium so as to decrease the volume of the outer working space.

  • Patent number: 6889597
Abstract: An adjusting device includes a piston cylinder unit with a cylinder having a piston and a piston rod movably arranged therein, the piston rod extending out of the cylinder. A piston rod guide includes a support element having a first part arranged in the cylinder and bearing axially against one part of the cylinder and a second part connected to the first part. An annular seal arranged between the second part of the support element and the interior of the cylinder such that pressure in the cylinder acts on the seal which bears on the second part of the support element. The connection between the first and second parts of the support element is releasable when the force of the annular seal bearing on the support element exceeds a bearing force limit. The first and second parts of the support elements move telescopically from a normal position to an overload position when the connection is released and reduce the axial length of the support element.

  • Publication number: 20040079225
Abstract: The invention relates to an adjusting element having a cylinder 1, the interior space 8 of which contains a pressurized medium. A piston is arranged displaceably in the cylinder 1, said piston having a piston rod 4 which protrudes out of the cylinder 1 at one end of the cylinder 1. The piston rod 4 is surrounded by an annular seal 5 which, with its inner, radially encircling circumference, bears in a sealing manner against the piston rod 4 and, with its outer, radially encircling circumference, bears in a sealing manner against the inner wall of the cylinder 1, is acted upon, on the side facing the interior space 8, by the pressure of the medium and, with its side facing away from the interior space 8, is supported on a supporting element 10.

  • Patent number: 6524512
Abstract: A method is provided for making an injection-molded support of polymeric material having a cylindrical portion having an axis and an end, an annular groove for a sealing ring located proximate to the end of the cylindrical portion and defined by a base surface, a sealing surface and a ring-retaining surface, the sealing surface being farther from the end of the cylindrical portion than the ring-retaining surface. The base surface, a sealing surface, and either a seat portion for a flange formed in a separate molding step that provides the ring-retaining surface of the groove or the entirety of a flange that provides the ring-retaining surface of the groove are formed by a cavity of a mold part that separates from the support in the direction of the axis of the cylindrical portion.
