  • Publication number: 20160328404
Abstract: A text query from a user may be received. Playlists associated with the text query may be identified. A relevance score may be calculated for each of the playlists based at least in part on a relevance of the corresponding playlist to the text query. Furthermore, content items may be identified where each of the content items is included in at least one of the playlists. For each of the identified content items, one or more playlists that includes the corresponding content item may be identified. A score for each of the content items may be calculated based on the relevance score for each of the playlists that includes the corresponding content item. Furthermore, a new playlist may be generated for the user based on the scores for each of the content items.

  • Publication number: 20150324539
Abstract: An improved emergency response system is provided. The system includes a patient or subscriber location database having a schedule of patient or subscriber activities. In one implementation, an emergency services server detects when the patient or subscriber is having a possible medical event as indicated by medical physiologic data transmitted from a wireless communication device proximate the patient. A third party such as a technologist and/or doctor diagnoses the patient and determines whether treatment is required. If treatment is required, a phone located remotely from the patient is used to call an emergency services first responder from a public safety access point in the patient's location. The remotely located phone has an automatic location identification database record that is updated based on the patient's current location as indicate by the patient location database.

  • Publication number: 20150324369
Abstract: Methods and systems generate deep metadata associated with media content. The deep metadata may be used, for example, by media content recommendation systems. In one embodiment, a database includes a plurality of media files that are each associated with respective data models and metadata sets. A new media file is categorized by microgenre and automatically analyzed to generate a new data model. The new data model is compared to the database to determine a particular data model stored therein that satisfies a similarity threshold. In one embodiment, the comparison is limited to data models that are associated with the same microgenre as that of the new media file. A set of metadata associated with the particular data model stored in the database is then assigned to the new media file. In an example embodiment, the new media file is an audio file and the database is a music database.

  • Publication number: 20150220525
Abstract: A user feedback module, executable by a processing device from memory is disclosed. The user feedback module receives from a user device a selection of a seed media item. The seed media item includes a seed label. The user feedback module further generates a list, the list includes the seed label and a set of related labels based on the seed label. The seed label and each related label include a separate label weight. The user feedback module also identifies multiple media items associated with an associate label. The associate label includes at least one of the seed label or a related label of the first set of related labels. The user feedback module also transmits to the user device a first media item from the multiple media items. The user feedback module adjusts the label weight of the associate label based on a user feedback on the first media item.

  • Patent number: 8527435
Abstract: A novel Levenberg-Marquardt like second-order algorithm for tuning the Parzen window ? in a Radial Basis Function (Gaussian) kernel. Each attribute has its own sigma parameter. The values of the optimized ? are then used as a gauge for variable selection. Kernel Partial Least Squares (K-PLS) model is applied to several benchmark data sets to estimate effectiveness of second-order sigma tuning procedure for an RBF kernel. The variable subset selection method based on these sigma values is then compared with different feature selection procedures such as random forests and sensitivity analysis. The sigma-tuned RBF kernel model outperforms K-PLS and SVM models with a single sigma value. K-PLS models also compare favorably with Least Squares Support Vector Machines (LS-SVM), epsilon-insensitive Support Vector Regression and traditional PLS.

  • Publication number: 20120310923
Abstract: A method of generating a human-readable data synopsis involves a computer receiving data comprising demographic and/or consumer behavioural data attributes; and forming data aggregations by querying the received data with at least a first query and a second query. At least one of the data sources comprises geographic data associated with the data attributes. The queries each include a common data attribute criterion that queries the data attributes, and a respective geographic criterion that queries the geographic data. The geographic criterion of the first query defines a different geographic region than that of the second query. The computer performs an analysis of the data aggregations by applying the results of the queries as inputs to a pre-defined logic function, and evaluating the logic function. On a display device, the computer generates the human-readable synopsis by applying a result of the data aggregation analysis as input to a pre-defined report template.

  • Patent number: 8151024
Abstract: Reconfigurable virtual backplane systems and methods are provided. One virtual backplane system includes a bus, and first and second line cards coupled to the bus. Each line card includes a processor including a memory storing an array of configuration tables. Each configuration table stores a listing of processes to be transmitted to or received from the communication bus, wherein a first configuration table is selected from the first line card upon the occurrence of a first event and a second configuration table is selected from the second line card upon the occurrence of a second event. One method includes connecting first and second buses in first and second systems, respectively, to form a bus for a new system. The method further includes detecting the connection of the first and second buses, and reconfiguring the first and second systems to operate as the new system in response to detecting the connection.

  • Patent number: 8113427
Abstract: Systems and techniques for product identification using terahertz radiation detection. An area of interest is illuminated with radiation in the terahertz frequency range and terahertz radiation reflected from objects within the area of interest is detected and a detector signal based on the detected radiation is processed to generate identifying information for the objects. The generated identifying information may be compared against stored identifying information for products and the result of the comparison is used to select a product or group of products for which the comparison produces a match. Processing of the detector signal may generate a spectral signature characteristic of reflective and absorptive properties of an object under illumination, and the spectral signature may be compared with stored spectral signature information for products.

  • Patent number: 7840581
Abstract: Methods and systems verify and control the quality of metadata associated with a media data file. The metadata may be used, for example, by media content recommendation systems. In one embodiment, a first attribute is selected from metadata associated with a media data file and an attribute dependency corresponding to the first attribute is determined. The metadata may be searched to determine whether it includes a second attribute that satisfies the dependency. If the dependency is not satisfied, the metadata is flagged for reevaluation. The metadata may also be flagged for reevaluation, for example, if the metadata includes inconsistent attributes, if the total number of assigned attributes within the metadata does not exceed a predetermined value, or if an expected attribute dimension is missing or does not include an expected number of defined attributes. In certain embodiments, user selections are controlled to provide consistent attribute combinations.
