Patent number: 11801549Abstract: A method for removing a blind rivet includes a workpiece arrangement having first and second surfaces and a connecting hole. A blind rivet is fixed in the hole and has a shell and screw through the shell extending coaxially along a common center axis, the shell having a shell head portion, straight portion, deformation portion and threaded portion having an internal thread. The straight portion is in the hole and the deformation portion and the threaded portion protrude out of the hole, the screw having a screw head portion and pin portion having an external thread. The screw is in the shell such that the deformation portion of the shell is deformed where the outside diameter of the deformed deformation portion is larger than the diameter of the hole. The shell is cut in the region of the thread portion and/or the deformation portion, and the blind rivet is removed from the hole.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2021Date of Patent: October 31, 2023Assignee: Airbus Operations GmbHInventors: Jörn Skirke, Alexander Schäfer

Publication number: 20220176440Abstract: A method for removing a two-part connector in a workpiece arrangement includes providing a workpiece arrangement having first and second surfaces and having a hole connecting the first surface to the second surface. A connector is fastened in the hole, which connector has a bolt extending along a central axis and a sleeve fastened on the bolt. The bolt has a head portion and a shank portion with retaining grooves. The sleeve is fastened to the bolt on the side of the second surface such that the inner surface thereof engages with the retaining grooves and prevents a relative movement of bolt and sleeve parallel to the central axis. The sleeve has an outside diameter which is greater than the diameter of the hole in the workpiece arrangement. The sleeve is cut and or the bolt, and the connector is removed from the hole.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2021Publication date: June 9, 2022Inventors: Jörn Skirke, Alexander Schäfer
