Patent number: 11971944Abstract: Techniques for using suppression filters for presenting content of a network documents are described. In an example, a computer system receives, from a device associated with an account identifier, a request for an online network document. The computer system determines that a first category identifier of a first item category is associated with a suppression filter. The computer system determines that the account identifier is associated with an online item interaction having an interaction time associated with an item that belongs to the first item category. The computer system determines, based on a comparison of the interaction time and the suppression time, that a presentation of the first content in the online network document is prohibited. The computer system sends, to the device in response to the request, network document data that indicates second content about a third item that belongs to a second item category.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2021Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Amritha Ram, Alexander Slutsker

Patent number: 11934641Abstract: User interface customization based on user navigational signals is described herein. A computer system causes a device to present first information associated with a first item in a first network page. The computer system receives first data indicating a first interaction with the first information and determines whether the first interaction corresponds to a first request for information about a set of items associated with the first item or to a second request for a removal of the presentation of the first information. If the first interaction corresponds to the first request, the computer system causes the device to present a second network page that shows second information associated with a second item of the set of items. If the first interaction corresponds to the second request, the computer system causes the device to remove the first information from being presented in the first network page.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2022Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Dennis Ryan Stainken, Alexander Slutsker, Raman Bhatia, Sylvia Yang, Puneet Sharma, Peter Everett Zupke, Ksenia Zhizhimontova, Aparna Raman, Anton Pieter van der Stroom, Steven Ivie, Michaela Lea Rodwick

Patent number: 11074229Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for a distributed read-only database service are disclosed. Using a read-only database service, one or more host groups are selected from a plurality of available host groups in a distributed system. The one or more host groups are selected for a particular dataset based at least in part on a size of the dataset and on a transaction rate for the dataset. The selected one or more host groups comprise one or more hosts comprising storage resources. A read-only database comprising elements of the dataset is generated. The read-only database is deployed to the storage resources of the one or more host groups in the distributed system. The one or more host groups are configured to serve a plurality of read requests from clients for the elements of the read-only database.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2018Date of Patent: July 27, 2021Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Alexander Slutsker, David Michael Hurley, Remo Antonio Cocco, Siu Nam Wong, Aparna Raman

Patent number: 10621622Abstract: Techniques for providing notifications may be described. In particular, responses to past notifications transmitted from a computer system to a user device associated with a user account may be accessed. A notification profile for the user account may be generated based on the responses. The notification profile may include sequence of time slots to transmit notifications within a time period. A notification topic may also be determined based on past interactions of the user device with the computer system. Notifications corresponding to that notification topic may be scheduled for transmission to the user device based on the notification profile. A response to a transmitted notification may be analyzed to determine whether to change the notification topic. If so, remaining notifications may be updated based on the change before transmittal.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2015Date of Patent: April 14, 2020Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Tegdeep Kondal, Nisarg Shah, Alexander Slutsker

Publication number: 20200089719Abstract: A user accessing content via a Web browser or other application can be provided with an option to deep link (or automatically redirected) into an identified application in order to access corresponding content via the identified application. The deep link can be determined using a set of rules and filters to ensure that the appropriate link is determined and that the option to deep link is only provided in accordance with user preferences and behaviors, or any restrictions on the display of the content. If the identified application is not installed on the device, the user can be automatically redirected to an application store or other source from which the application can be obtained.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 23, 2019Publication date: March 19, 2020Inventors: Tilakkumar Patel, Alexander Slutsker, Andrew Dennis Willingham

Patent number: 9817703Abstract: A compute cluster including multiple compute nodes may implement distributed lock management using conditional updates to a distributed key value data store. It may be determined, at one or more compute nodes of a compute cluster, that particular lock is available based on a respective lock entry for the particular lock maintained in a lock manager table at a key value data store. The key value data store may be configured to perform conditional write requests for updates to data store at the key value, and may maintain data according to a distributed durability scheme. Compute nodes that determine that a lock is available may send a conditional write request to the key value data store in order to acquire the particular lock. The compute node that acquired the particular lock may be identified based on the successfully completed conditional write request to the respective lock entry.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2013Date of Patent: November 14, 2017Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Mark Ryland, Alexander Slutsker, David Craig Yanacek

Patent number: 9448997Abstract: Techniques, including systems and methods, for providing translated content are described and suggested herein. In an embodiment, translations for instances of content are received and reviewers provide votes regarding the translations' quality. Votes received for translations are utilized in order to determine scores for the translations. Reviewers and translators may be scored as well. Scores for translations are used in various processes for providing appropriate content to users.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2014Date of Patent: September 20, 2016Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Roy N.
